Description:

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Manager – IT Programming will provide leadership in overseeing the strategic design, programming, implementation, and integration of the Fiserv DataSafe environment and future Fiserv DNA App development. This pivotal role will also manage the BASE24 nonstop system integral to ATM and cards interfaces. This manager is expected to use forward-thinking strategies, effective communication, and problem-solving skills to drive the team towards achieving excellence in the design, programming, and deployment of mission-critical systems and integrations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Systems is preferred, though significant relevant work experience can be considered in lieu of a degree
  2. EXPERIENCE: Minimum of seven years in the design and management of financial core transaction systems or similar high-transaction, mission-critical applications in a regulated environment. At least three years of experience in agile project management, personnel supervision, and crafting technical documentation is essential.
  3. KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS: Proficiency in database design/administration, Internet development, and Object-Oriented Programming. Familiarity with agile methodologies, workload balancing, outcome-focused strategies, and building repeatable software delivery frameworks is vital. Strong emphasis on quality assurance, documentation, and team leadership is a must.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Prolonged sitting throughout the workday with occasional mobility required.
  2. Corrected vision within the normal range.
  3. Hearing within normal range. A device to enhance hearing will be provided if needed.
  4. Occasional movements throughout the department daily to interact with staff, accomplish tasks, etc.
  5. Moderate travel (3-4 times annually) locally, statewide, and throughout the United States to attend seminars and vendor group meetings. Overnight travel and evening schedules included.
  6. Prolonged operation of a personal computer, which includes typing, operating a mouse and reading information on the monitor.
  7. Carry and respond to smartphone 24/7 and ensure that appropriate team members are available and cross-trained for escalation support activities.

Responsibilities:

TASKS, DUTIES, FUNCTIONS:

  1. Spearhead programming activities related to the Fiserv DataSafe environment, Fiserv DNA App development, and the BASE24 nonstop system.
  2. Direct and modernize all database design activities associated with in-house programming.
  3. Facilitate collaboration between employees and vendors for optimal data mapping and configuration of integration software and systems.
  4. Ensure adherence to state and federal regulations tied to credit union compliance, specifically in high transaction, regulated environments.
  5. Cultivate an innovative work culture, emphasizing skill development, coaching, and alignment with Golden 1’s core values.
  6. Adopt agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban) to improve collaboration, adaptability, and responsiveness.
  7. Break down work into smaller iterations (sprints) for faster feedback and continuous delivery.
  8. Embrace practices like test-driven development (TDD) and continuous integration (CI/CD).
  9. Oversee the agile implementation, evaluation, and integration of solutions to meet evolving business demands.
  10. Uphold stringent security and availability standards across all applications and integrations.
  11. Implement frameworks that ensure systematic documentation and record-keeping of applications, integrations, source code, and database structures.
  12. Periodically evaluate system performance, ensuring alignment with established benchmarks.
  13. Set and maintain best practice standards, ensuring vendor-provided systems meet these criteria.
  14. Regularly conduct code reviews to ensure code quality, adherence to coding standards, and knowledge sharing.
  15. Implement automated testing (unit tests, integration tests) to catch issues early.
  16. Prioritize code quality over speed.
  17. Remain at the forefront of industry advancements in security, standards, and quality.
  18. Define and enforce contemporary coding and integration standards.
  19. Optimize resource management, ensuring efficient utilization of both internal and vendor-provided technical resources.
  20. Champion code and security reviews, simultaneously mentoring the team to foster continuous improvement.
  21. Lead exploratory initiatives into emerging technologies, advocating for their integration when strategically aligned.
  22. Maintain a deep understanding of regulatory frameworks, ensuring all team activities remain compliant.
  23. Develop and maintain an understanding of the pertinent regulatory requirements and risks inherent to job responsibilities, establish, and maintain control activities that mitigate those risks consistent with the Credit Union’s risk appetite, and ensure operational integrity and compliance with applicable regulations.
  24. Define key performance indicators (KPIs) related to software development (e.g., code quality, delivery time, bug resolution).
  25. Regularly measure and analyze metrics to track progress and identify areas for improvement.
