Department: Information Technology Services Office Job Posting Details The Information Technology Service Office (ITSO) is responsible for developing and managing the University’s IT infrastructure, while promoting the effective use of technology to support learning, research, and administration. Our Cybersecurity Team drives the advancement of cybersecurity maturity at HKUST. We are seeking a high-caliber professional to join us in this dynamic and rapidly evolving field. We are looking to fill the role of IT Security Manager. Key Responsibilities Lead Application Security: Manage and oversee the security of our web and mobile applications, ensuring they are protected against emerging threats. Conduct Risk & Compliance: Perform comprehensive risk assessments and oversee security compliance to safeguard our digital assets. Manage Incident Response: Lead security incident response handling, including forensic analysis and reporting. Enhance Cloud & Container Security: Drive the secure configuration and management of our cloud infrastructure (including CASB and CWPP) and containerized applications (e.g., Docker, AKS). Develop Security Frameworks: Implement and refine a zero-trust architecture and manage key security technologies, including identity and access management, data encryption, and web application firewalls. Collaborate and Educate: Partner with departmental Cybersecurity Coordinators (CSC) to enforce security policies and promote cybersecurity awareness initiatives for all university members. Qualifications A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline. A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience. Strong expertise in application security. Recognized IT security certifications (e.g., CISSP, C-WAST) preferred. Knowledge of container technologies such as AKS and Docker (advantageous). Strong technical skills, logical reasoning, and meticulous attention to detail in forensic analysis. Excellent communication skills to explain complex technical issues to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Solid project management skills are required. Ability to work under pressure, with initiative and as a collaborative team player. Benefits Starting salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
