JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

Manage implementation, sustainable solutions, and continuous improvements for Variable (On-Demand) technologies across multiple manufacturing sites at BD-UCC. This role is responsible for managing direct reports supporting Variable (On-Demand) initiatives. Including the oversight of hardware (Printers, CPUs) and software (e.g., EasyLabel, BarTender) across multiple sites.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in graphic design, IT, project management or related technical field.
  • Experience with project management systems (e.g. Microsoft Project) and change management is highly desired.
  • 1-3 yrs experience leading others
  • Prior knowledge of medical device packaging, labeling, labeling management software, UDI and MDR a plus.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, including effective project management and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Knowledge and understanding of FDA and ISO medical device development regulations; especially as they pertain to design control and product development. Including knowledge of barcode standards and compliance requirements (GS1, FDA, UDI).
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with ability to influence.
  • Proficient in the use of a personal computer with experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, network systems (electronic mail) and Internet applications.
  • Proven experience in implementing labeling solutions in enterprise environments with the ability to scale and manage global labeling processes.
  • Expertise in Variable (On-Demand) design/printing workflows.
  • Experience with ERP system integration (e.g., JDE, SAP, etc.).
  • Familiar in database management and SQL for label data.
  • Strong interpersonal skills required in the areas of verbal and written communications, customer focus, time management, professionalism, coaching, influencing, and team building.
  • Strong listening and assessment skills.
  • Strong analytical thinking, questioning & problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to build and manage database systems for information handling and communication.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the Variable Design team members, both FTE and contract support.
  • Responsible for the performance reviews of direct reports.
  • Preparation of reports and presentations.
  • Plan and strategize resource requirements, FTE and contract support, for upcoming fiscal year(s).
  • Implement and configure Variable (On-Demand) software for efficient labeling processes.
  • Automate labeling workflows using Variable (On-Demand) software to improve efficiency and reduce errors.
  • Integrate Variable (On-Demand) software with ERP/WMS systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, etc.).
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with labeling standards such as GS1, FDA, and UDI.
  • Manage label design, version control, and dynamic labeling solutions.
  • Lead multi-site labeling implementations, ensuring scalability and consistency.
  • Work with all stakeholders to build consensus on areas for improvement.
  • Author new or modified procedures to address opportunities for improvement.
  • Travel based on project needs (e.g. to UCC facilities, conferences, etc.).
  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities, on occasion, as assigned.
