WHO WE ARE

The Department of Vet erinary Ph ys i o l o gy and Ph armacology is the only department of its kind in Texas and has a rich tradition of excellence in educ at ion, research and outreach with an em ph asis on vet erinary and human medicine. The department houses the Michael E. DeBakey Institute for Cardiovascular Science and Biomedical Devices, the Reproductive Sciences Center, the Interdisciplinary Toxicology Program and the Center for Cell and Organ Biotechnology.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Salary: will be commensur at e based on the selected hire’s educ at ion and experience.

REQUIRED EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree veterinary technology, biomedical science, animal science, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five years of related experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Licensed veterinary technician.
  • 1 year experience teaching veterinary students.
  • 1 year experience working with animal use protocols.
  • Proficiency with learning management systems.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to positively and professionally interact with clients and staff.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Working knowledge of office software and instructional programs.
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for teaching and instructing individuals and groups.
  • Skilled in utilizing various learning and active listening strategies.
  • Ability to orally comprehend and express information and use inductive and deductive reasoning.
  • Ability to facilitate and adapt course and the course content.
  • Ability to positively and professionally interact with clients and staff, groups of various sizes.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
