REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory science or related field
  • 3–5 years of experience in a laboratory leadership position
  • Prior experience in a multi-site or hospital system laboratory preferred
  • Exposure to Lean or Six Sigma methodologies is a plus
  • Certification with ASCP or similar organization is preferred
  • Ability to work independently and oversee a team of lab professionals
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable managing multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and accreditation standards
  • Oversee competency checks, staff training, and continuing education documentation
  • Lead and manage performance improvement processes and communicate key outcomes
  • Update and maintain safety protocols and laboratory policies
  • Explore and implement new laboratory technologies, including validation and training
  • Manage proficiency testing programs and respond to performance issues
  • Address incident reports and customer concerns with thorough investigations and resolutions
  • Participate in interdepartmental committees to support broader organizational goals
  • Plan and support staffing needs, including hiring and onboarding of new team members
  • Conduct performance evaluations, update job descriptions, and manage corrective actions
  • Ensure efficient resource utilization including staff, systems, and equipment
  • Contribute to budget planning and monitor financial reports for accuracy and improvements
