Summary : The Manager, Laboratory Services is accountable for day-to-day operations including implementation of action plans, work processes, scheduling, and resource management to carry out strategy, policy, and direction. Provides administrative and operational leadership to ensure qualified team members perform high quality testing in the areas of phlebotomy, hematology, chemistry, blood bank, microbiology, cytology, and histology, as well as specimen processing and send-outs. Job Description: Schedule: Monday - Friday 8am -4:30pm No Weekends No Holidays Shared position between Berlin and Wild Rose KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: Effectively manages team members in a manner consistent with ThedaCare policies and values. Ensures the recruitment and retention of competent team members to meet the needs of the business operations of the department. Is accountable for daily activities and work processes that result in quality outcomes. Oversees and ensures accuracy of time and attendance and payroll practices. Monitors test analysis in pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic processes to maintain acceptable levels of performance. Supports and enforces quality control programs to ensure that diagnostic tests are performed accurately and efficiently. Implements department initiatives that focus on employee engagement, process improvement initiatives, patient satisfaction, and workplace safety. Manages the ongoing analysis, development, and implementation of methods and systems to improve overall efficiencies and effectiveness of services and functions. Drives excellence throughout the assigned area. Serves as a partner of the leadership team, and participates in the strategic planning and the attainment of goals for area of responsibility. Maintains compliance on mandatory, regulatory, and accrediting requirements. Ensures team members are properly trained and informed of procedures, policies, and processes. Is responsible for team member annual competencies and licensure/certification, as required by regulatory agencies. Conducts analysis, development, and implementation of methods and systems to improve the overall efficiency and effectiveness of services and functions. Implements focus on quality, clinical care, education, and research, delegating as necessary to meet patient demands. Interprets and evaluates data to improve the delivery of a quality product or service through process observation, measurements, benchmarking, and tracking. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in laboratory, biological or chemical science, healthcare, or business administration Five years of progressive responsibility in a healthcare setting Three years of leadership experience to include leading teams and/or projects PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling) and lift up to a maximum of twenty-five (25) pounds without assistance Job classification is not exposed to blood borne pathogens (blood or bodily fluids) while performing job duties WORK ENVIRONMENT: Normally works in climate controlled office environment Frequent sitting with movement throughout office space Use of computers throughout the work day Frequent use of keyboard with repetitive motion of hands, wrists, and fingers.
