QUALIFICATIONS

University degree in a related field plus four years of recent, related experience developing policy or legislation is required. Demonstrated experience leading or supervising a team is also required.

Preference will be given to candidates with the following assets:

  • Experience working in labour relations or a strong understanding of labour relations in Alberta.

One year of degree for one year of education and vice versa will be considered as equivalent.

Responsibilities

The Workplace Policy and Legislation branch within the Safe, Fair and Healthy Workplaces division is looking for a strong people leader, with expertise in strategic policy and/or labour relations to manage Alberta’s Labour Relations Policy and Legislation team.
Reporting to the Director of Labour Relations Policy and Legislation, the Manager is responsible for providing direction to a team of policy analysts responsible for analysis and advice related to the labour relations legislation such as the: Labour Relations Code, Public Service Employee Relations Act, Police Officers Collective Bargaining Act, and Burial of the Dead Act. The Manager is responsible for providing strong leadership to and using resources effectively to develop strategic and technical advice and analysis (based on strong research and engagement), while managing issues related to Alberta’s labour relations policy and legislation.
