This position manages all aspects of Driver Education and Automotive Services learning programs to ensure learning solutions contribute to the development and engagement of employees and supports the business unit strategies, organizational priorities, vision, values, and culture. The Manager, Learning and Communications partners with internal/external stakeholders to identify performance needs and then leads the Learning team to design, facilitate, support the transfer of learning and evaluate the effectiveness to ensure continued relevancy and alignment to the strategic goals. This position also oversees the communication strategies for Driver Education with a focus on employee and contractor engagement through various channels.

Responsibilities

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Report to the Senior Manager of Driver Education.
  • Develop relationships with Management groups to understand and address their educational needs.
  • Oversee all aspects of Driver Education and Automotive Services Learning.
  • Leads the Learning team to plan, develop and deliver all phases of the curriculum cycle for learning programs, including needs analysis, design, facilitation, support, and evaluation.
  • Ensure delivery of education programs through an understanding of the concepts, processes, procedures, and principles that are fundamental to adult learning.
  • Research industry trends to understand if our education programs are meeting the needs of our business and employees.
  • Analyze and interpret business performance to identify areas that require educational support or alternative programs.
  • Identify different ways of training to meet the needs of our employees – classroom, one-on-one and or online.
  • Think and plan strategically through knowledge in current and possible future policies, practices, trends, and information affecting the organization.
  • Develop communication plans that connect employees and contractors to the Driver Education and Association strategies.
  • Collaborate with Corporate Learning to align with Association strategies, channels, design, and brand guidelines.
  • Coach, mentor and develop staff to ensure they are fully competent and have the confidence to provide and facilitate an exceptional education and training experience.
  • Delegate responsibility and empower employees to take accountability for assisting with planning, development, and delivery of educational requirements.
  • Provide accurate forecasting and budgeting relative to education deliverables.

WHAT YOU’VE DONE

  • You have a post-secondary degree or diploma in Business with experience in either child, adult (or both!) learning.
  • You’re no newbie—you have at least 5 years’ experience in a learning and development role combined with 3 years of experience in leading a training / development team in a corporate environment. Experience in operations is an asset.
  • You’re an all-round superstar with strong leadership, strategic planning, creative writing and problem-solving skills.
  • You’ve worked in positions that required excellent facilitation skills, innovative approaches, and an eye for detail.
  • You have the results to back it up – quantifiable successes that have generated results in either sales, net promoter scores, customer experience scores, and/or leadership.
