Description

We’re looking for a seasoned investigator to lead NHVR’s most serious and high-impact investigations, those that dig deep into corporate accountability, Chain of Responsibility (CoR) breaches and systemic non-compliance with the Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL).
This is your opportunity to lead a nationally coordinated team focused on major, often complex investigations that target executive officers, corporations and high-risk actors in the heavy vehicle supply chain. This role can be located in Brisbane, Parramatta or Adelaide.

Responsibilities

As Manager, Major Investigations, you’ll oversee the delivery of NHVR’s major investigations program, managing a team of experienced investigators working across jurisdictions. Your role will focus on addressing the root causes of serious breaches through strategic enforcement and proactive prevention.
You’ll work closely with law enforcement, prosecutors and other regulatory bodies, ensuring all major investigations meet the highest legal and procedural standards. This role sits at the core of NHVR’s transformation into a modern, prevention-first safety regulator.

Key responsibilities of this role are:

  • Lead investigations into the most serious and systemic breaches of the HVNL
  • Manage and mentor a national team of investigators to achieve high-impact outcomes
  • Apply risk-based frameworks to prioritise investigations based on regulatory intelligence
  • Oversee the development of complex briefs of evidence and enforcement documents
  • Collaborate with law enforcement and prosecutorial bodies on joint investigations
  • Promote consistency in investigative methods, documentation, and legal standards
  • Contribute to national policy, enforcement strategy, and training initiatives
  • Drive continuous improvement in investigations practices, systems, and performance
  • Represent NHVR in strategic forums and industry engagements
  • Uphold the integrity, independence, and legal robustness of all investigative activity
