The Manager, Major Projects leads a team of professionals that is responsible for planning, design, construction and completion of facility and parks capital projects. Reporting to the Director, Facilities and Major Projects, this position is a key member of the Facilities and Major Project’s team, ensuring Department operational plans are aligned with Council priorities and achieved in an effective manner.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- University degree in Architecture, Engineering, Business or related diploma supplemented with equivalent experience
- Registration as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng), Professional Architect (AIBC), Applied Science Technologist (AScT) or similar designation
- Minimum 10 years related experience, including a combination of engineering, construction and project management experience in medium and large sized building construction, renovation, and maintenance projects, preferably in municipal or public sector environment
- Additional training in project management, PMP certification considered an asset
- Experienced in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe and familiarity with MS Project
- Demonstrated leadership experience with a minimum of 3 years formally supervising staff
- Demonstrated public speaking success, communicating professionally and interacting tactfully in public and high-profile situations
- Consideration will be provided to those with an equivalent combination of training and experience
- A valid Class 5 BC driver’s license is required
