Develops and maintains an effective internal control framework that defines the ways and methods governance is implemented. The governance framework includes policies, guidelines and provides programs, practices and measures to promote transparency, accuracy, consistency across groups. Applies specialized knowledge of risk management, regulatory compliance and issue management.

  • Responsible for monitoring and reporting of issues within the unit, including assisting with identification and classification of issues; providing effective challenge on action plans and closure of issues; updating the issue management system; coordinating with different stakeholders such as audit, ops risk and compliance on a regular basis
  • Prepares and presents committee material for senior management
  • Works with stakeholders outside of Market Risk to ensure issues metrics are presented appropriately at different forums
  • Manages the regulatory compliance process by working with different stakeholders within and outside of Market Risk to identify controls and complete self-assessments against regulatory requirements
  • Working in collaboration with senior leaders in and outside of Market Risk, articulating/interpreting regulatory requirements and being able to communicate to multiple stakeholders with depth and clarity
  • Executes on thought leadership by researching existing or emerging requirements & related best practices to assist and develops recommendations for changes/enhancements.
  • Updates policies and procedures to ensure implementation of an effective issue management process and regulatory self-assessment process
  • Exercises judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules.
  • Works independently and regularly handles non-routine situations.
  • Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Typically between 5 - 7 years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in risk management, audit, compliance, governance is preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of issue management process and regulatory environment.
