JOB SUMMARY

The Manager, Marketing and Communications will lead the development and execution of TalentED Greater Calgary’s marketing and communications strategy. This includes content creation, brand storytelling, market research, media relations, campaign launches, and event coordination. The role works closely with the TalentED Secretariat to engage internal and external audiences and manage partnerships and sponsorships.
This is a full-time contract position with a minimum in-office requirement of 3 days a week.

EDUCATION

Post secondary degree or diploma in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or similar field.
Membership with a professional organization (IABC/CPRS) will be considered an asset.

EXPERIENCE

Minimum 5 years of experience in marketing and communications, with 1 to 3 years of progressive management and leadership responsibilities.
Note: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

KEY SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Expertise in developing and executing integrated marketing and communications plans aligned with organizational goals and audience needs.
  • Strong ability to craft and proofread compelling content across multiple formats—press releases, social media, newsletters, reports, and more—with attention to tone, clarity, and accuracy.
  • Understanding of stakeholder environments, including SMEs, non-profits, and post-secondary institutions, with the ability to navigate complex relationships and external factors.
  • Event planning and sponsorship/partnership acquisition.
  • Skilled in digital marketing, SEO, analytics, and tools like Microsoft 365, CRM systems, Canva, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and generative AI.
Responsibilities

Strategic Marketing

  • Develop and execute marketing, communications and media relations plans for TalentED Greater Calgary, ensuring they align with project objectives and company goals.
  • Apply change management for TalentED rebrand, focusing on strategic communications and target audience engagement.
  • Be the primary storyteller for TalentED Greater Calgary at CED by writing work-based learning stories, website content, campaign content, email content, press releases for funding announcements, speaking notes for key spokespeople at events, Board communications, reports, presentations, newsletters, and more.
  • Create engaging social media content and videos according to branding standards, to increase audience reach.
  • Lead TalentED digital marketing through advertising, SEO, analytics, and website maintenance.
  • Use and maintain tools to assist with marketing and communication efforts (website, social media channels, e-newsletters, etc.).
  • Ensure constant improvement and superior delivery of communications and media relations plans.
  • Prepare speaking notes, presentations, briefing documents and key messages.
  • Act as event lead for networking events by planning and coordinating vendors, catering, set up/tear down, applications/bookings, insurance, follow-up and feedback.
  • Proofread and edit copy to ensure error-free content and publications for TalentED Greater Calgary.
  • Track marketing metrics for TalentED.

Relationship Management

  • Manage contractors, vendors and staff to fulfill marketing and communications plans and events.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop branding materials.
  • Identify and manage sponsorship agreements and partnerships.
  • Manage vendors and oversee budget, contract deliverables, purchase orders, and invoices.
