PERMANENT FULL-TIME POSITION IN NORTH VANCOUVER CLOSES: Open Until Filled BE PART OF SOMETHING MEANINGFUL Are you a strategic, detail-oriented, and community-focused professional with expertise in membership administration and First Nations governance? Squamish Nation is seeking a Manager, Membership to join the Ts’its’ixwnítway Member Services team. This role plays a critical part in upholding the Membership Code and ensuring fair, consistent, and transparent administration of membership processes. As the Band Registrar, you will oversee membership entitlement, census management, and access to rights and benefits—supporting the well-being and integrity of the Squamish Nation community. WHAT YOU’LL DO * Oversee additions and deletions to the Band Census and maintain accurate membership records. * Determine membership entitlement and approve lists for rights and benefits (e.g., distributions, housing, medical services). * Review court documents and custody orders to guide Per Capita payment decisions. * Facilitate monthly Membership Committee meetings to review applications. * Coordinate appeal hearings and work with legal counsel on membership-related matters. * Provide guidance and support to Estate, Housing, and Member Services functions. * Conduct registry searches and manage inquiries using the First Nations Land Registry System. * Identify trends in client concerns and implement improvements to enhance service delivery. * Lead, manage, and support staff while ensuring a safe and healthy workplace. * Contribute to departmental and organizational goals through collaboration and continuous improvement. WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR * Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Office Administration, Native/Aboriginal Public Administration, or a related field. * 4–5 years of directly related experience in membership administration, governance, or related areas. * Strong knowledge of First Nations governance, membership codes, and Indian Act registration processes. * Experience working with Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) for status registration. * Experience with large-scale database systems (JD Edwards considered an asset). * Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. * Proven ability to manage sensitive and complex situations with professionalism and confidentiality. * Excellent organizational, time management, and conflict resolution skills. * High level of integrity, emotional intelligence, and cultural awareness. * Valid BC Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle. * Experience working within a First Nations community environment.
