Responsibilities
  1. Lead a small team of professional officers in the regulation of mining activities in the Northern Territory, providing expert guidance to
    shape best practice methods in the assessment of risk, calculation of security bonds and preparation of evidence-based
    recommendations for consideration by the delegate.
  2. Build the capability and responsiveness of the team to ensure the effective delivery of contemporary regulation and services across
    the Northern Territory, particularly swift adaptation to changing strategic priorities including outcomes arising from the NT
    Government’s environmental regulatory reform program.
  3. Provide high-quality, practical advice to mining operators and company representatives in the development and submission of
    documentation for approval under the Act to assist them to comply with legislative requirements whilst balancing commercial
    imperatives.
  4. Monitor the performance of Territory based mining activities against recognised industry standards, codes of practice and obligations
    under the Act, investigating incidents and other relevant matters in line with legislative requirements.
  5. Project manage and identify solutions to complex regulatory matters including providing evidence-based recommendations for
    effective systems support or enforcement actions.
  6. Develop and maintain collaborative and productive working relationships across the agency and with external stakeholders to support
    effective regulation of mining activities in the Northern Territory.
