REQUIREMENTS:

  • 310T Trade Certificate
  • Post Secondary Education in Logistics, Business Administration or related field of study
  • 5-10 years of management experience in a maintenance repair facility, preferably within a unionized setting
  • Transportation and Motor Coach Industry knowledge
  • Knowledgeable with fleet management cycling
  • Experience with asset management work order software
  • Maintenance management and experience in AVL/GPS telematics systems
  • Thorough working knowledge of MTO/CVOR legislation
  • Capable of interpreting complex documents, vehicle drawings, technical reports, and vehicle specifications
  • Competent computer skills (MS Word, Excel and work order systems)
  • Excellent management and leadership skills and demonstrate the ability to maintain good working relationships
  • BZ or CZ driver’s licence is considered an asset

Responsibilities:

ACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENT:

The Manager, Motor Coach Fleet is responsible for the leadership and oversight of the motor coach maintenance department. Responsibilities in this role include developing and implementing maintenance strategies, ensuring the efficient operation of equipment and maintenance facilities, and managing a team of maintenance professionals.

MAJOR DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee 4 distinct bus garage locations (North Bay, Timmins, Sault Ste. Marie and Thunder Bay)
  • Strong understanding of the collective agreement and participate in regular union/management meetings including negotiation of items during bargaining
  • Participate in ONTC green fleet initiatives including developing our “Green Fleet Strategy” that’ll be focused on Coaches, NRV and Rail Support Vehicles as well as infrastructure and new green alternative fuel options
  • Liase between internal legal department and ONTC insurance companies
  • Ensure project delivery and budgetary requirements are met, controlling costs while ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains, driving initiatives to enhance overall maintenance operations
  • Ensure best practices and processes for the Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) work order system are adhered to for efficiency and reporting accuracy; be a champion for change for EAM to the team.
  • Remain current in technologies being offered through vendors and ensure collaboration with Information Technology Services to identify solutions to software
  • Collaborate with external vendors and suppliers to secure necessary materials and services, negotiating contracts to achieve cost-effective solutions
  • Responsible for the acquisitions, sales, disposition, and audits of the ONTC motor coach Fleet
  • Investigate and evaluate damage/repair costs, process and maintain paperwork for insurance claims
  • Oversee fuel management and ensure fuel spill procedures are enforced
  • Oversight of the review for all invoices for maintenance shop to ensure accuracy and validity
  • Have extensive knowledge and stay current on Master Service Agreements with OEM
  • Collaborate and develop relationships with OEM maintenance support staff to ensure regular onsite visits for process improvements in maintenance practices.
  • Ensure compliance with the Preventative Maintenance schedules in order to meet operational service requirements
  • Adherence to all maintenance schedules (ie. Schedule 4 and 24 KM inspections)
  • Ensure warranty work is captured and documented and processed
  • Complete timely reports of incidents within designated software for tracking and reporting, ensuring all paperwork is protected and filed in accordance with legislation
  • Ensure all company safety practices and procedures are followed
