YOUR ROLE

The Manager, NGO Accountability – Prudential Oversight, holds a key leadership role within the Partnerships unit of the Strategy, Policy & Commissioning division.
This role is responsible for managing financial reviews, audits, and assurance activities for funded NGO service providers to ensure compliance with funding agreements and the responsible use of public resources. By leading a dedicated team and engaging with both internal and external stakeholders, the Manager supports the integrity and effectiveness of DCJ’s funding programs.
The role also drives continuous improvement in financial accountability and contributes to the department’s overarching mission of delivering safe, just, and inclusive services across New South Wales.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

The Manager – NGO Accountability – Prudential Oversight is responsible for leading a small team that conducts financial reviews, audits, and assurance activities for funded NGO service providers within the Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ).
In this role, the manager oversees the annual accountability process, provides expert financial advice to contract managers, and ensures compliance with funding agreements to safeguard public resources. The position works in close partnership with the Manager, Prudential Oversight, and collaborates with a range of internal and external stakeholders to strengthen financial oversight frameworks, support fraud and corruption risk management, and promote continuous improvement in financial accountability.
Key responsibilities include reviewing and analysing financial reports, coordinating audits, and contributing to strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing transparency, governance, and financial integrity across funded programs.
The manager leads a collaborative team within the Prudential Oversight unit, dedicated to upholding integrity, transparency, and continuous improvement. The broader Partnerships team fosters a supportive culture with a strong focus on public accountability and stakeholder engagement. The role requires close coordination with colleagues across Partnerships, program areas, and Commissioning and Planning teams located throughout New South Wales.
