    The Manager, Observing Advisory Unit (OAU) is responsible for establishing and strengthening the Observing Systems and Operations’ (OSO) science measurement capability. They are also responsible for managing some of OSO’s important scientific partnerships related to observing systems.
    As a key interface between OSO and the Research and Data Programs, the role will initially oversee two key teams: the Cape Grim Baseline Air Pollution Station; and the OSO Data QC Team, which will be responsible for data quality control, calibration, and processing for some of OSO’s specialist observing networks.
    The Manager, Observing Advisory Unit is accountable for the advice and direction provided to relevant OSO Network Managers, to ensure all operational activities result in accurate observational data. This includes ensuring that the steps required to produce high quality data, are clearly documented, adhered to and where possible, automated.
    A key part of establishing the OAU will involve consolidating some of OSO’s existing distributed science functions and maturing this capability to ensure OSO’s specialist networks are better supported and sustainable.
    The Manager, Observing Advisory Unit isalso responsible for scientific leadership and advice in support of the General Manager, OSO.
