Job Summary: The Manager of Business Development is a player-coach role responsible for leading and developing the Business Development Representative (BDR) team. This position plays a critical role in building top-of-funnel sales strategies, driving execution across multiple verticals, and ensuring alignment with organizational growth objectives. The Manager will provide direct leadership, coaching, and performance management while partnering cross-functionally to accelerate pipeline development and customer engagement. Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly manages the Business Development Representative team. Responsible for hiring, training, mentoring, and performance management of direct reports. Provides ongoing coaching to ensure quota achievement and career development. Duties/Responsibilities: Pull Through Activation: Guide teams to map key leaders, schedule and attend key sales and care manager events, and maximize engagement at industry conferences. Care Manager Training Coordination: Oversee strategies to map care manager leaders and execute outreach to drive both virtual and in-person training. Lead business development team focused on outreach, engagement, & conversion. Medicare Advantage/Medicaid Campaigns: Direct efforts to map stakeholders, launch targeted campaigns, book Initial Qualified Meetings (IQMs). Collaborate with Sales Leadership to forecast pipeline growth, analyze conversion trends, and recommend strategy adjustments. Drive continuous improvement through training, coaching, and process optimization. Ownership: Take full accountability for monitoring and track team performance metrics, ensuring alignment to goals and KPI’s. Travel: Be prepared for significant travel, including attendance at training, conferences, and customer on-site visits. Expect 12–18 trips annually Performance Management Metrics: Lead Generation and Outreach Number of Outbound Activities: Total calls, emails, and other touchpoints made daily/weekly. Connect Rate: Percentage of outreach that results in a meaningful conversation. Conversion Rate: Number of conversions relative to outreach efforts. Pipeline Development Number of Qualified Opportunities: Total leads converted into -qualified opportunities (SQOs). Accepted Leads (SALs): Number of leads passed to sales that are accepted as viable opportunities. Target Achievement Monthly/Quarterly Quota Attainment: Number of meetings set or qualified opportunities created against targets. Percentage to Goal: Progress toward monthly and quarterly KPIs. Travel Performance Meetings Scheduled per Event/Conference: Leads generated and meetings secured during travel. Post-Event Follow-Up Success: Conversion rate of event contacts into opportunities. Requirements Required Skills/Abilities: Excellent leadership skills Proven ability to execute on sales strategies Proven talent development experience Highly self-motivated, proactive, and results-oriented mindset. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to craft tailored messaging. Strong research and analytical skills to identify opportunities and uncover pain points. Proficiency in CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot) and prospecting tools. Ability to travel as required (15–25 trips annually). Must be 18 years of age or older Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent preferred 5+ years of experience in sales leadership, and strong foundational sales training Demonstrated success in meeting/exceeding sales targets and quotas. Experience prospecting into healthcare, government, or related sectors is a plus. Physical Requirements: Ability to remain at your designated workstation for the duration of the workday Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a phone and Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP). The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. The ability to observe details at close range (typically on a computer screen) Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds. Ability to navigate airports, conference venues, and customer sites, which may include extended periods of walking, standing, and occasional stair climbing.
