NYK Group South Asia (NGSA) Pte. Ltd. was founded in 1983 and is a company based in Singapore as the Regional Management Office (“RMO”) for global shipping and logistics services. NGSA has strong presence in the South Asia and Oceania region to provide dynamic support to the NYK group companies in the region.
We are currently recruiting an Manager to join NYK Group South Asia. The candidate must be an enthusiastic, proactive and motivated individual with real passion for the above segment, with experiences in project management, chartering, and operation of dry bulk vessels. In addition, he or she needs to frequently use Japanese language to liaise with Japanese-speaking clients and related stakeholders. He or she should possess the ability equivalent to N1 of the Japanese-Language Proficiency Test in listening, speaking, reading and writing complying with an established honorific language spoken among Japanese business persons.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master’s degree in civil engineering or relevant discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in shipping company with at least 3 years in dry bulk fleet.
  • Strong understanding in NYK Group Mission Statement and Management Plan (Mid and Long Term).
  • Strong experience & proficient knowledge in vessel operation, chartering, and project management.
  • Good knowledge in financial field in order to collaborate with financial division when company carries out project investment.
  • Excellent technical, analytical, negotiation and presentation skills.
  • Good computer proficiency and literacy with significant experience in the use and application of spreadsheets, databases and presentation packages.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English and Japanese to communicate with counterpart companies, group companies and the Headquarter in Tokyo.
  • Ability to travel globally as required.
  • Positive attitude, resilience, cultural agility and adaptability
  • A team player with transparent working manner and willing to take ownership of an opportunity and hands-on in every aspect of the job.
  • Punctuality and good attendance is a MUST.

Responsibilities
  • Assist and support Management to develop and implement company’s mid and long-term plans.
  • Formulate appropriate fleet development plan (purchasing, chartering etc.) in order to correspond for expanding of cargo volume in near future.
  • Form a competitive financial strategy and finance procurement.
  • Carry out feasibility study for fleet development plan.
  • Furnish company’s activities reports and financial information details to stakeholders corresponding to their requirements.
  • Communicate clients to gather cargo information and future’s project plan.
  • Gather market information both vessel and cargo (iron ore, coal etc.) to make appropriate fleet development plan.
  • Gather and update shipping regulations especially related to environmental issue.
  • Study possibility of utilizing new fuel (LNG, ammonia etc.) to correspond for environmental issue.
  • Collaborate with fleet safety department, to assess infrastructure-related aspects of port facilities from a civil engineering perspective.
