Description:
Located on the ancestral, unceded territory of the syilx nation, in the heart of the beautiful North Okanagan, School District No. 22 (Vernon) provides quality educational programs and a safe learning environment for the over 9,200 diverse students within its 19 schools. 600 teachers, 420 support staff and 60 management staff work together towards the success of our students. SD22 currently operates 195 school aged child care spaces and 96 preschool spaces and are continuing to build and grow in response to the needs of the communities we serve.
We have an opening for the full-time – exempt position of Manager of Child Care. The successful candidate will have a diploma in Early Childhood Education or a degree in a related field, a minimum 5 years’ experience in early childhood education and/or school-age child care, a demonstrated understanding of the BC Early Learning Framework and child care licensing regulations, knowledge of inclusion principles and practices, an appropriate certificate in First Aid and hold a valid Class 5 BC driver’s license. Specialized ECE certification (ITE or SNE), and experience in a K-12 educational setting or managing child care centres would be considered an asset.
You have knowledge of basic accounting and financial functions, including budget management and are well versed in the Child Care reporting requirements for CCOF, CCFRI, ACCB and MCCB. As well, you are detail oriented, and can sensitively manage confidential information. You have the demonstrated ability in leading and supervising staff, an understanding of and proven ability to build strong relationships with children, and parents/caregivers through ongoing, effective communication.
Reporting to the District Principal of Early Learning & Child Care, the Manager of Child Care is responsible for the management of assigned Child Care Programs.
The Manager of Child Care will work directly with the District Principal of Early Learning and Child Care to support the goals of the SD22 Strategic Plan, implement the BC Inclusive Child Care Strategy, and the goals of the BC Early Learning Framework.
THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL RECEIVE:
