JOB OVERVIEW

We are looking for a highly skilled, detail-oriented, and proactive Manager of Compliance and Taxes to lead and oversee our expanding multi-business, multi-state tax operations. This role is ideal for someone with strong leadership skills, deep tax expertise, and the ability to work independently while collaborating across departments.

SKILLS

  • Strong knowledge of financial concepts and financial acumen related to banking operations.
  • Proficiency in compliance management frameworks such as COSO and GAAS.
  • Familiarity with financial software systems used for compliance tracking and reporting.
  • Experience in public accounting or auditing with a focus on regulatory compliance.
  • Understanding of ACH processes and their implications for compliance management.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to evaluate complex information effectively.
  • Strong communication skills for articulating compliance issues clearly to stakeholders at all levels.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

  • 5+ years in a tax or accounting role
  • 2+ years in a management or leadership role
  • Extensive corporate and partnership tax knowledge
  • Expertise in U.S. federal, state, and local reporting requirements
  • Strong skills in Word, Outlook, and Excel

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • CPA license
  • Master’s degree in Accounting or related field
  • Experience with multi-state and multi-entity tax operations
  • Proven success in audit management and process improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
  • Tax Preparation & Filing: Lead the preparation, review, and timely submission of all federal, state, and local tax returns, including multi-location business licenses.
  • Tax Compliance & Planning: Oversee compliance for all entities and develop strategic plans to optimize federal and state tax positions.
  • Process Improvement: Identify, recommend, and implement improvements to tax processes and procedures.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with finance, legal, and operations teams to align on tax-related matters.
  • Audit Management: Prepare for and manage IRS and state audits, including responses and supporting documentation.
  • Advisory Role: Provide guidance on tax implications of business decisions and transactions.
  • Regulatory Monitoring: Stay informed on legislative and regulatory tax law changes, advising leadership and adapting strategies accordingly.
  • Internal Audits: Develop and execute internal audits to ensure ongoing compliance.
