POSITION DESCRIPTION

Under the supervision of the Sr. Director of Communications, but working alongside the entire Communications team, the Manager of Digital Marketing and Communications will help support the NYIC’s robust communications & marketing efforts. The Manager of Digital Marketing & Communications conceptualizes and implements strategies to engage the NYIC’s audiences in our campaigns and bolster the organization’s brand. The Manager will manage content rollout, develop earned/paid digital campaign strategies for social media platforms, and analyze the effectiveness of content and campaign strategies with robust metrics analytics. The Manager will devise online strategies for issue-based and brand campaigns to reach key audiences (including elected officials). The Manager will be responsible for managing our website and e-mail communications to our subscribers as well as overseeing our social media channels (including setting robust goals and plans for campaigns, maintaining analytics and monitoring social media trends), executing digital ad buys and managing the assigned budget. The Manager will administer the NYIC’s website in coordination with outside vendors.
The Manager will also develop and foster relationships with internal and external partners, members and consultants, and provide coordination with various teams internally in the NYIC to facilitate the creation of digital campaigns, produce and edit content, and track and analyze metrics. The Manager of Digital Communications will also work with external vendors and internal branding guidelines to support the creation of key branded materials including social media graphics, promotional materials, one-pagers, reports, and other materials as needed. The manager may supervise junior digital and/or administrative staff on specific projects.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Two to three years of experience as a digital communications professional working directly with an advocacy organization.
  • Preferred: experience with the challenges faced by immigrant-serving and immigrant-led organizations
  • Ability to work with a wide range of work styles and cultural backgrounds (strongly preferred) including experience supervising staff or interns is preferred.
  • Highly organized and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Takes initiative to create new content and refine existing content.
  • Good team player and able to adapt as necessary to changing circumstances.
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment and juggle multiple tasks.
  • Language fluency is strongly preferred in either Spanish, French, Haitian Creole, Russian, Arabic or Bengali.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of Salesforce, Excel, and other modern database and information technologies.
  • Experience in video and photo editing is preferred (Adobe Creative Suite: Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop, Lightroom, etc.).
  • Experience in graphic design is preferred (Canva or Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.).
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace and Asana.
  • Interest in and/or knowledge of the NYIC, its members, or issues affecting immigrants in New York is an advantage.

    Salary: $73,574*

Responsibilities

Support development and implementation of online communications and campaign strategies for ongoing priorities and rapid response in New York City and Statewide, including:

  • Implement strategies to grow NYIC’s social media audience; increase engagement in our campaigns and issues across all platforms to meet our campaign objectives.
  • Maintain a weekly, monthly and annual content strategy calendar in Asana, in order to create a cohesive message about the NYIC’s initiatives, campaigns, and mission.
  • Work with the Communications team and consultants to advance communications projects, including video production, promotional graphics, translations, and other tactics as needed.
  • Create and synthesize monthly/quarterly analytic reports for all social media platforms, powermails, website and other related initiatives.
  • Monitor social media for coverage of issues affecting the NYIC and immigrant rights daily, and share relevant coverage to relevant social media channels on a daily basis.
  • Manage the moderation of comments/activity on our social media channels.
  • Oversee social content from press conferences, mobilizations and other events (livestreaming, livetweeting, photo, video, etc.). Manage all messaging and posting from those events.
  • Responsible for keeping NYIC’s website updated and accurate, including reporting on analytics quarterly.
  • Maintain calendar and draft and send regular “powermails” to our subscriber base on key NYIC issues and campaigns. Maintain quarterly analytics on powermails. Works with the Communications team to develop and execute list-building strategies via virtual events, pledge/sign-on campaigns, etc.
  • Oversees social media messaging for live events and mobilizations.
  • Stay up to date on all New York and federal immigration news.
  • Ensure branding guidelines are instituted and followed on all platforms, as well as support creation of collateral, as needed.
  • Support the development of marketing initiatives such as a website redesign, brand refresh, narrative change efforts, as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with other Digital Communications staff to ensure social media, video, and graphic design work is well executed in a timely manner.
  • Perform similar functions for the NYIC’s affiliated organization, NYIC Action as needed.
  • Handles departmental reconciliation of credit card expenses and submission of invoices, drafting of contracts, and other administrative duties, as required.
  • Assist with additional duties as necessary. All communications staff are required to be able to work cross-functionally to support key efforts, staff and programs, as needed.
  • May need to occasionally lift, carry and move materials weighing 50 pounds or less.
  • This position will require some late hours or weekend work especially during the New York City budget and New York State legislative sessions.
