Description:

The Manager of Electrical is responsible for assisting in managing quality, cost, and delivery on projects. They are responsible to help monitor the process and are responsible for supporting the Director of Construction as the central hub. In order to manage quality, cost and delivery, the Manager of Electrical helps the Director of Construction formally requisition packages of work (with a defined scope, budget and delivery) from the internal departments or 3rd party suppliers. The Manager of Electrical will also facilitate the project contract administration with directions from the Director of Construction to ensure a positive flow on the project.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage scope creep through effective use of change orders.
  • Communicate any problems with team members or project results to the Site Manager which in turn will relay to the department managers.
  • Have a positive attitude towards work and provide leadership to create a good working environment for others.
  • Be a problem solver. Help to develop the solutions we need, not just point out the gaps that may exist.
  • Project requirements are validated before work begins on a project. These requirements include a valid scope, budget and delivery, as well as any credit checks, down payments, etc. as mandated by company policy and the contract.
  • Develop project schedules with insight from design, trades, Project Manager, and customers. Monitor these schedules weekly with the project team and discuss any delays with the Project Manager to minimize negative effects on project completion dates.
  • Project requirements are properly communicated to and understood by the project team.
  • Purchasing and Manufacturing departments plan their activities on large projects to realize economies of scale, including consolidated purchasing and assembly line production where applicable.
  • All activities are coordinated through formal requisitions, each with a defined scope, budget and delivery.
  • Scope creep is effectively managed, with the assistance of the estimating department if necessary.
  • Customer communication is managed so that customers are informed and satisfied and that promises are not made outside of project management.
  • Complete understanding reading, interpreting, and estimating projects from engineered drawings
  • Input and assistance with Design Build projects with our consulting teams
  • Coordinate, schedule, and evaluate all electrical aspects of our projects from start to finish according to schedule, specifications and budget
  • Work with field staff to determine best practices and efficiency
  • Provide support to the Director of Construction and Project Managers as required
  • Plan and prepare construction schedules and milestones and monitor progress against established schedules
  • Responsible for quality and delivery of projects
  • Prepare and submit electrical project budget updates
  • Supervise the activities of subcontractors and subordinate staff
  • Some travel may be required to review sites or facilities.
