POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the CEO, the Manager of Finance (MF) will serve as an integral member of the Management team. The MF will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining robust accounting practices that result in a comprehensive accounting and financial reporting system for the credit union. The MF in consultation with the CEO will also be responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of a risk management framework for the credit union including the areas of technology and cyber risk. The incumbent will provide effective leadership by recommending short-term and long-term objectives for the Credit Union and for implementing programs to achieve objectives through training, supervision and direction of staff, the incumbent prepares staff performance appraisals and administers the collective agreement to build a positive and effective working relationship between Management and employees.

HIRING QUALIFICATIONS:

As the ideal candidate, you will have successfully completed a Bachelor’s Degree with an emphasis in Business or Commerce, preferably with a CPA designation plus have 6-9 years’ experience in progressive leadership positions at a financial institution, or equivalent combination of training and experience.

SKILLS

In addition to the above, this role requires a strong business acumen, excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills including negotiation and conflict resolution along with a strong knowledge and comfort with information technology. The incumbent should be able to work collaboratively, have exceptional oral and written communication skills and be adept at managing people in a unionized and regulated environment.
