POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Vice-President Finance & Business Administration, the Manager of Finance is a leadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of TSASK’s financial operations. This includes strategic financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, accounting, financial reporting, and risk management. The role also provides leadership to the finance team, supports system transitions, and ensures compliance with accounting standards and internal controls.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Certification
· CPA designation required.
Experience
· 5+ years in financial analysis, accounting or senior controller role.
· Leadership and mentoring experience.
· Experience with budgeting, forecasting and audit preparation.
· Experience in not-for-profit or regulatory environments is an asset.
Skills/Abilities
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
· Adaptable and a process improvement mindset.
· Proficiency in ASPE, GAAP, and GST/PST legislation.
· Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, modeling).
· Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAGE, Ceridian); familiarity with Concur and Moneris is an asset.
Strategic Financial Leadership
· Lead the development and implementation of financial management policies and procedures.
· Provide strategic financial advice to the VP and senior leadership.
· Prepare and present financial reports to the Board of Directors and executive team.
· Develop multi-year financial projections and recommend resource adjustments.
Financial Reporting & Compliance
· Oversee the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with ASPE and GAAP.
· Ensure compliance with tax legislation (GST/PST) and TSASK policies.
· Coordinate year-end audits and serve as the primary liaison with external auditors.
Budgeting & Forecasting
· Lead the annual budget planning process and quarterly forecasting.
· Conduct variance analysis and provide insights to support decision-making.
· Support cost-reduction strategies and financial planning during economic shifts.
Leadership & Collaboration
· Manage and mentor finance staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
· Lead and champion finance-related projects and system implementations (e.g., ERP, Moneris, Concur).
· Collaborate with IT and other departments to enhance reporting and data integrity.
