JOB SUMMARY

he NunatuKavut Community Council (NCC) is accepting applications for the position of Manager of Health and Community Services, located in NunatuKavut. The successful applicant, as overseen by the Director of Health and Community Services, will provide programming support and supervision of holistic health and community service initiatives and staff.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Completion of post-secondary education in community health, social work, education, Indigenous studies, project management, or a related field; a combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in a progressively responsible management position, preferably in the non-profit sector and working with Indigenous communities, is an asset.
  • Deep knowledge of NunatuKavut Inuit history, culture and way of life, and awareness of diverse health and wellness issues across the North.
  • Demonstrated experience in building partnerships with community members and service providers.
  • Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to adapt and navigate rapidly changing priorities and to connect, collaborate, and negotiate effectively.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing guidance, direction, and supervision to staff.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Exemplary communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to articulate and present key messages on complex issues clearly.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and virtual communication platforms (e.g., Zoom, Teams).
  • Experience in proposal development and writing.
Responsibilities
  • Support the departmental strategic work plan to advance key strategies and priorities.
  • Coordinate, evaluate, and lead initiatives that address the holistic health and wellness needs of NunatuKavut Inuit throughout the territory.
  • Prepare and monitor staff work plans to ensure departmental priorities are progressing.
  • Monitor project budgets, ensuring that financial resources are utilized effectively and in accordance with funding requirements.
  • Cultivate effective and collaborative relationships and networks with other departments, service providers, communities, and other stakeholders.
  • Provide supervision, direction, and mentorship to program staff.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that promotes teamwork, collaboration and professional growth.
  • Seek and pursue opportunities for partnerships and external funding that supports the department’s strategic plan.
  • Assist with financial planning, budget preparation and reporting (monthly or quarterly) as required.
  • Other related duties, as required.
