Job Title: Manager of Health Services

Summary: Coordinates and articulates the health program under the direct supervision of the Superintendent. Provides health care as needed in all district schools. Works in collaboration with the building principals and District Administrators to supervise the health tech team.
*Salary: $61,903 - $88,406 dependent upon experience. This is an 11-month position which aligns with other district admin and principal roles.
Education and/or Experience: Registered Nurse (required), ACLS- preferred, PALS/ENPC Preferred, TNCC- preferred. Previous management experience preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Eligible or already in possession of a Colorado Educators License for School Nurse, Unencumbered RN License- Colorado or Compact State. Must hold American Cross First Aid Certification, Medication training, CPR instructor preferred.

• Interacts daily with students to collect pertinent data and information in a systematic and ongoing manner relative to the student’s immediate, interim, and long-term condition or needs. Including but not limited to:
• Functional abilities
• Physical, psychological, social, cognitive, sexual, cultural, age philosophical, and spiritual status
• Health disparities, patterns, and illness
• Students and parents or guardians’ perception of health status and health goals
• Health education needs
• Identifies barriers to effective communication based on psychosocial, literacy, financial, and cultural considerations.
• Applies ethical, legal and privacy guidelines and policies to the collection, maintenance, use and dissemination of information.
• Documents relevant data accurately and in a manner accessible to the interprofessional team.
• Uses assessment data, standardized classification systems, technology, and clinical decision support tools to define actual or potential problems.
• Prioritizes problems based on mutually established goals to meet the needs of the student across the health-illness continuum.
• Expected outcomes are mutually formulated with the student, family/guardian, and healthcare providers.
• Expected outcomes are achievable and measurable.
• Expected outcomes are documented and communicated to the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
• Evaluates and modifies expected outcomes based on the evaluation of the student’s condition.
• Develops an individualized, holistic plan based on the students priorities and preferences that reflects current, evidence-based nursing practice.
• Documents the plan using standardized language or terminology.
• Systematically reviews and revises the plan of care based on the student’s response.
• Implements the identified plan of care using critical thinking and technology through collaboration and communication across the continuum of care.
• Delegate Interventions considering the circumstance, task, person’s level of education and experience, as well as regulatory and institutional standards while maintaining accountability for care.
• Collaborates with students and others involved in care in the evaluation process.
• Documents the results of evaluations.
• Attends Individualized Education Plan meetings when expected (medical students, students with extensive school health care plans, Initials with health on consent, Tri’s with health on consent.
• Supervises health tech team district wide, in close collaboration with the building administration, and district administration.
• Supervisory duties of Health team: Works closely with District HR and Administration team on (Yearly evaluation input, interviewing and hiring process, disciplinary action).
• Compiles and updates health histories of students
• Gives physical exams when requested for kindergarten children, special education children, athletics, or any child with emerging health problems
• Completes developmental screening on elementary children who are referred by the Child Study Team.
• Responsible for health status evaluations including screenings for vision, hearing, height and weight, scoliosis, and blood pressure, at grade levels scheduled. Follow-ups as necessary with phone calls to parents and medical reports to family doctors.
• Manages a variety of health problems for students who come to the nurse’s office daily.
• Crisis management including accidents, sudden acute illness, etc.
• Monitors Immunizations as required by Colorado Immunization Law, to children who provide parent permission.
• Involved with planning and implementation of health care for children with specific problems who require care during school hours.
• Arranges, upon parent request, for referrals of children with health problems that require further evaluation and care by physician, dentist, etc.
• Makes home visits as required for effective management of children with health problems.
• Participates in health curriculum projects at teacher request.
• Provides individual education to children as needed.
• Assists teachers and parents with information regarding specific health problems.
• Evaluates health status of special education students and participates in all phases of developing and implementing Individual Education Plans for such.
• General management of health budget, distribution of supplies
• May assist in other departments of the school as requested.
• Other duties may be assigned.
  Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervise health technicians in all buildings; provides on-going training. Organizes volunteers to assist in screening programs.
