Description POSITION SUMMARY: The Manager of IT and Informatics is responsible for administering, coordinating, and reviewing the performance of IT functions across the organization, including infrastructure and solution opportunity recommendations and vendor liaison. This position also includes coordination with our providers for onboarding and at-the-elbow support. This person is also responsible for addressing escalations from the third-party MSP Provider, which may consist of on-call availability outside core business hours. This leader seeks to identify and implement new and emerging strategies to increase efficiency, improve processes, and enhance the patient and employee experience. As part of achieving these goals, this role identifies opportunities to work with leaders in other areas to ensure regulatory compliance, increase care coordination, and improve process efficiency between departments and entities. The Manager of IT and Informatics reports to the CNO and engages in successful collaboration with employees and leaders across the organization. PRINCIPAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Adhere to all policies of the organization, including (but not limited to) job description, certification/licensure requirements, mission statement, HIPAA, confidentiality standard and patient’s rights. Stay up to date with organization communication and directives. Manages Information Technology and Network Systems, including Clinic and Hospital EMRs. Collaboratively analyze technology requirements across the organization and develop solutions for IT needs. Participate in hardware and software evaluations. Provide application support, troubleshooting, support training needs, unit reporting or departmental analytics activities. Represent the organization in IT related discussion/meetings. Evaluate and maintain IT inventory, including recommendations for upgrades, additions, or replacements. Examine usage/efficiency of EMR features or add-ons on a routine basis. Act as liaison between CAH and offsite IT Support, regarding organization support needs, project requests, and analyzing performance. Serve as primary resource for leveraging technology to improve/maximize clinical workflows, ensuring efficiency across hospital and clinic departments. Responsible for recruiting, training, coaching, and developing the IT team that supports the missions and values of the organization Responsible for active engagement and collaboration with operational, leadership, and staff Responsible for performance tracking of improvement initiatives related to department goals and objectives. Review/create IT policies, as needed. Other duties as assigned. EQUIPMENT: Computer and Printer Copy Machine Fax Machine Telephone Requirements EDUCATION/SKILLS REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Health Informatics or related field experience (5 years healthcare admin) required Clinical background or formal education in health-related discipline (e.g., nursing, allied health, clinical informatics) strongly preferred Proficiency in Cerner / Athena EMR applications is a plus Strong communication, organization, interpersonal, and customer service skills are required. EXPERIENCE: Extensive experience with hospital information systems, including EHR/EMR, PACS, RIS, LIS, pharmacy systems, and clinical decision support tools Strong understanding of clinical system integration Ability to translate clinical requirements into technical solutions and understand clinical documentation, order entry, medication administration, and other clinical workflows Knowledge of network infrastructure, data centers, cloud platforms, backup, disaster recovery, and high-availability systems Proficiency in cybersecurity, identity access management, and data protection for clinical systems Experience overseeing IT service desk operations, system upgrades, and downtime procedures Requires a high level of personal integrity, and the ability to professionally handle confidential matters and demonstrate the appropriate level of judgment and maturity. Excellent working knowledge of computer systems, security, network, and systems administration, databases and data storage systems, and phone systems. Experience leading and managing IT projects; experience with IT service performance metrics and benchmarking; experience with IT infrastructure and operations best practices Requires a high degree of initiative, dependability, and ability to work with little supervision. Must have well-developed planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills. WORKING CONDITIONS: The following physical/mental demands are required to be a Manager of IT and Clinical Informatics at CAH, however, some of these requirements may have to be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Occasionally shift, lift, and transfer a minimum of 50# and apply a minimum of 60# of push/pull force. Frequent bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, kneeling, reaching above shoulder height, and pushing/pulling. Employee must possess enough visual acuity to read fine print from articles, computer, print-outs, etc. Employee must be able to speak clearly and distinctly enough to communicate effectively and be understood by employees, management and the public.
