POSITION OVERVIEW:

Mecum Auction is seeking a dynamic and results-driven professional to lead and grow Mecum Financial Services. This role is responsible for cultivating and managing lender relationships, overseeing credit and finance operations, and implementing strategic initiatives to drive business growth and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will have advanced knowledge and experience in indirect automotive retail financing. The candidate can be remote/hybrid/ or in office but must attend all the Mecum Car Auctions throughout the year.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 7+ years of experience in automotive lending (preferably indirect lending)
  • 5+ years in a management/leadership role
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with various lending platforms and a network of lender contacts
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance preferred
  • Classic car knowledge and financing experience a plus
  • Hybrid or remote role; travel to auctions required (approx. 14 per year)
  • Salary: $75,000-$85,000 DOE

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; MBA preferred.
  • Proven experience in automotive financing roles, preferably within the auction or automotive industry.
  • Knowledge of Classic Car values is preferred but not required.
  • Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills for presenting complex financial information clearly.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing banking partners while identifying and securing new lending institutions to support program expansion.
  • Evaluate current operational processes and strategies; recommend and implement improvements to enhance efficiency, growth, and profitability.
  • Lead loan origination efforts and provide direction to the credit team to ensure alignment with company goals and performance standards.
  • Manage and mentor the auction finance staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
  • Assess client needs, recommend appropriate financial solutions, and proactively resolve potential challenges.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with other Mecum Auction departments, including Sales, Customer Experience, Titles, Accounting, and Marketing, to ensure seamless cross-functional collaboration.
  • Develop and implement innovative strategies to promote Mecum Financial Services and expand its market presence.
  • Monitor staff productivity and resource requirements to ensure optimal operational performance.
  • Ensure full compliance with all applicable lending regulations and company policies.
  • Utilize CRM tools to manage client interactions, follow-ups, and reporting effectively.
