MANAGER ONCOLOGY NAVIGATION COUNSELING

Inova Peterson Life with Cancer is looking for a dedicated Manager Oncology Navigation Counseling to join the Life with Cancer team. The Manager of Oncology Navigation and Counseling develops and manages pediatric standards, guidelines and protocols for the determination of care needs for children and adolescents impacted by cancer and their families. This role provides leadership to the pediatric navigation and counseling team across multiple oncology care settings, including pediatric inpatient units, pediatric outpatient clinics, and a dedicated counseling center. The ideal candidate brings demonstrated experience supporting pediatric patients and their families, with a strong preference for clinical oncology expertise and a proven track record of working collaboratively within and managing multidisciplinary care teams. Develops and manages Life with Cancer’s Oncology Navigation/Counseling programs and team members for patient populations. Oncology and Pediatric services. Incorporates data and information to continuously Oversees the care delivery of programs for patients and families within the Life with Cancer Service Line, in alignment with system-wide improve services/practices to enhance outcomes, while actively engaging in patient care and research to maintain current and evidenced based clinical skills. Manages staff through daily supervision, team member relations and staff development. This role will be full-time day shift from Mon-Fri. 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in related fields
  • Experience : A minimum of five years of progressive nursing/social work and/or supervisory experience with a particular focus on oncology patients. Experience in coordinating community health programs. Understanding of community healthcare systems, resources and data analysis methods. Experience in clinical research.
  • Certification: Certification in area of specialty within specified timeframe, if required.
  • Licensure: LPC, LCSW or licensed/eligible for RN License in Commonwealth of Virginia.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION:

  • Master’s degree

Responsibilities
  • Partners with community based organizations to improve the continuum of care for specific patient populations.
  • Works with Oncology Services, system-wide, to ensure alignment of ongoing promotions of healthcare programs to community based resources by developing written materials and public presentations describing activities related to patient care and research.
  • Provides safe and therapeutic care in holistic/systematic way to facilitate patients achievement of desired outcomes.
  • Reviews and evaluates the plan of care for effectiveness of desired outcomes for staff. Revises initial plans based on patient responses to interventions, as needed, and provides feedback to staff for developmental purposes.
  • Serves as contact and Liaison to all Life with Cancer services as well as community services for individuals looking for screening, diagnostic treatment, clinical trial research participation and/or support services.
  • Works with staff to monitor and ensure that clear/appropriate documentation and support services are provided to assist in the greatest possible outcomes for patients/families.
  • Coordinates and monitors the development of annual budgets for operating units. Monitors financial performance to ensure it meets or exceeds established goals.
  • Manages surveys regarding patient satisfaction with services received/provided and the impact of patient education, programs and counseling.
