The Provincial Planning Branch supports the development of healthy, sustainable communities with responsibility for land-use planning legislation, planning programs and partnerships, and planning approvals for special planning areas. The Planning and Legislation Unit leads reviews of legislation and regulations, regional planning initiatives, and Indigenous engagement policy development for land-use planning. We are seeking to fill a full-time regular position in Winnipeg.

Duties:
Reporting to the Director of Provincial Planning, the Manager, Planning and Legislation assists in managing the legislative process by researching, developing, reviewing, and refining policy and legislation related to land use planning in Manitoba. The manager is responsible for supervising a team of planners with responsibilities to support other units and branches in the Division in building planning capacity with departments, municipalities, and stakeholders, processing legislative updates, and leading the Division’s Indigenous engagement policies and any duty to consult on behalf of the Crown. In addition, the manager is responsible for preparing approval seeking documents to the Cabinet and its Committees on amendments to planning legislation and regulations, as well as cross-department, external, and/or cross-jurisdictional working groups, meetings, committees. Other responsibilities include the coordination of review and approval of municipal annexation proposals and leading regional planning initiatives.
