JOB SUMMARY:

As the Manager of State Government Relations, you will be a vital part of executing our government affairs strategies at the state level. In this dynamic role, you’ll monitor and analyze regulatory and legislative developments across targeted states, keeping internal stakeholders informed about emerging issues and their potential business implications. You’ll play an active role in translating policy changes into actionable insights and contribute to the development of strategies that guide our thoughtful policy engagement. Working closely with internal teams, you’ll help communicate the impact of proposed regulations, ensuring the organization’s voice is heard in the policymaking process. This position reports directly to the SVP of Government Relations.

  • This is a REMOTE position.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Ability to travel 10% of time; may fluctuate based on business needs
  • Majority (90%) of work is conducted indoors in air-conditioned or well-ventilated facilities.

Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • 7+ years of experience in government relations and legislative advocacy, with a focus on policy analysis and formulation.
  • Experience in healthcare or a related field, preferably with expertise in Medicaid policy and/or government-funded programs
Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Legislative Monitoring and Analysis:
  • Monitor and analyze legislation, regulations, emerging issues, and industry trends that could impact the organization
  • Prepare /share legislative updates for senior leadership and key internal stakeholders.
  • Advocacy and Relationship Development:
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key government officials as well as industry colleagues, association staff, and retained lobbyists/consultants.
  • Represent company externally, including participation in state association meetings and advocacy days, hearings and other public forums, and as needed, helping to coordinate legislative meetings, briefings and related activities.
  • Policy Development and Strategy:
  • Assist with research and analysis of existing, emerging, and historical public policy issues collaborating with and serving as advisor to internal stakeholders to determine business impact and to develop strategic plans to manage the issue both externally and internally, anticipating and projecting trends, developments, threats, and opportunities.
  • Draft policy papers, legislative proposals, and public comments.
  • Communication and Reporting:
  • Manage communication related to government affairs, including newsletters and social media updates.
  • Government Relations Organization and Compliance:
  • Manage compliance with lobbying disclosure requirements and ethics regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of lobbying activities and expenses.
