Utility Services is a professional services organization that works on performance, reliability, and security functions in the electric industry across North America. Utility Services specializes in assisting registered entities with their obligations as required by the Electric Reliability Organization, administered through the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC).
The Manager positions are designed to provide for the company’s leadership in the technical services arenas. Manager positions will be established upon the identification of subject areas pertinent to the company’s work in the Electric Reliability Organization and other company recognized regulated services arenas.
The currently recognized technology subject areas are: Operations and Planning (O&P), and Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP).
All Manager positions will have the following job duties and responsibilities:
1. Establish and maintain a high level of understanding of NERC Reliability Standards for implementation with our customers including participation in the development of new standards in the industry. Includes maintaining awareness of emerging industry issues that may impact Standards and compliance.
2. Gain an understanding of the compliance and regulatory challenges facing electric industry participants, including other agencies or resources, such as, but not limited to, the ISOs, PUCs, FERC, NERC, and Regional Entities.
3. Review one-line and network diagrams (other documents as necessary) for program development.
4. Participate in industry committees, forums, and Regulatory Standard’s drafting teams, in coordination with other Managers/Supervisors, the Director, or Technical Coordinator.
5. As a company Lead Point of Contact, your job duties will include:
1. Serving as the primary staff member of the company relating to a current customer’s work and serve as an intermediary between the Director and the customer when the customer needs attention and services from another technical subject area within the company. Prospective clients will be initially managed by the Technical Coordinator.
2. Assist clients with audits, spot-checks, self-certifications, and other data requests preparations and submissions, upon request by Analysts. Periodically sample work (submissions, sit it on meetings, etc.) to identify strengths and weaknesses. Managers will typically not be a lead contact for a client.

6. Collaborate with the President, Director, and other Managers on:
1. Identifying awareness needs for overlapping standards, tariff, or other regulatory requirements for the subject areas and communicating to staff.
2. Reviewing draft versions of standards to revise and improve existing program documentation. Revisions will be approved by the Director.
3. Mentoring of staff to facilitate better performance by the company in their technical subject areas. To include coordinating Senior Analyst training for lower-level Analysts.
4. Supporting the company’s mission and working conditions to facilitate and reinforce positive working relationships between staff within the entirety of the company and customer base.
5. Actively understanding the status of present and future projects being worked on by staff. Assignment of projects will be coordinated with the Director.
6. Development of new template program documentation and other materials to be used in support of our customers’ performance requirements under the approval of the Director.
7. Collaborate with the President, Director, and other Managers on Staff development and mentoring:
1. Regularly meet with the Technical Coordinator and Director to assess the training and development of the technical staff. This is paramount with new hires.
2. Assist Analysts in developing NERC compliance webinar presentations to clients, such as reviewing materials for improvement, or observing a practice presentation and providing constructive feedback.
3. Communicate and provide guidance to staff to enhance understanding and increase the level of staff expertise.
4. Lead technical discussions with staff to ensure a consistent high-quality level of service.
5. Review work products of staff to ensure a consistent and high-quality level of service.
6. Perform check-ins with staff related to client work. Update on progress and setting goals for each client and client project.
7. Develop and manage tools to increase efficiency in activities under the supervision of the Director.

8. Develop and perform performance assessments of staff with assistance from the Director.
8. Other tasks as deemed necessary by management.
