This role is for an Aboriginal Person in accord with Identified Positions under Employment Direction No. 10. About the Role This role is critical in helping to establish the Office of Aboriginal Policy and Practice and cultural readiness of the Department. When established, the Office will be the Department’s connection to engaging and partnering with Aboriginal organisations across its portfolio interests, and will provide whole-of-agency strategic leadership on Closing the Gap Priority Reforms and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Child Placement Principle. The Office will be responsible for ensuring the voices and interests of Aboriginal people, and in particular Aboriginal children and young people, shape decision making and practice across all Department activities.    Consistent with the Commission of Inquiry reforms underway, this role will initially be hosted in Child Safety and Youth Justice Operations and will be supported by colleagues working with Aboriginal children experiencing vulnerabilities.    This role will deliver benefits for Aboriginal children and young people through provision of strategic leadership and direction in the planning, management and implementation of cross-portfolio key strategic programs and initiatives in support of departmental and whole of government priorities.
