The Global Human Resources Division of Human Rights Watch (HRW) is seeking a Manager to oversee our onboarding and relocation processes and help to build a culture of learning and collaboration across the organization. The Manager will oversee the onboarding process for all staff globally in collaboration with relevant internal stakeholders, create contracts and employment agreements for all personnel, and administer HRW’s global relocation policy.
This position is part of the Global Human Resources team, reporting to the Associate Director for Recruitment and Onboarding. This position collaborates closely with two Recruitment Officers and other operational teams (Operations Administrators, IT, and Finance specifically). This position must be based in a location that will allow for effective collaboration with staff situated in the U.S. Eastern timezone, preferably in one of the following HRW offices: Washington DC, New York, London, Brussels, or Berlin.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: A bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience is required.
Experience: A minimum of five years of relevant work experience working in human resources is required. Experience working in a non-profit/NGO, working in a global organization, and managing global contracts are highly desirable.
RELATED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
- Interpersonal skills and the ability to listen, interact and communicate effectively and emphatically with all levels of globally diverse staff and other key stakeholders are required.
- Strong attention to details skills and a demonstrated ability to prioritize competing priorities is required. Experience drafting hiring documents (hire letters, contracts, etc.) is desirable.
- Demonstrated knowledge of employment classifications and employment/labor law in at least one of the country contexts in which HRW operates is required. Global experience is preferred.
- Experience supporting staff relocating between different global entities of the same organization/company is desirable.
- Experience leading and designing effective onboarding processes is required.
- A strong knowledge of general HR best practices is desirable.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English is required; fluency in other languages is desirable (particularly French, Spanish, or Arabic).

- Strong computer knowledge, particularly of MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and HR software, is required. Experience with HRW’s HRIS (UKG) and ATS (Greenhouse) are advantageous.
Salary and Benefits: HRW seeks exceptional applicants and offers competitive compensation and employer-paid benefits including medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance. The salary range for this position if based in the US is USD 80,000 – 88,000.
