This is a pivotal second line role where you’ll provide expert advice, deepen our risk culture, and help ensure our Operational Risk Framework is embedded effectively across the business. Our team is particularly looking for someone who can combine strong operational risk experience with hands‑on capability in data, systems, and process improvement. About the role | Mō te tūranga As the Manager, Operational Risk Advisory, you will work closely with business teams across New Zealand and Australia to deliver high‑quality risk oversight, challenge, and technical support. In this role, you will: Support and continually improve operational risk frameworks, policies, and controls Conduct detailed risk assessments and provide trusted second‑line challenge on new initiatives and business change Oversee incidents, root‑cause analysis, and thematic reviews Strengthen business continuity and operational resilience practices, aligning to APRA CPS 230 in Australia and emerging regulations in New Zealand such as the Deposit Takers Act Help translate regulatory and policy expectations into practical, effective controls Partner with the business to enhance decision‑making and drive risk‑aware outcomes Key Responsibilities Support the implementation and uplift of operational risk frameworks, controls, and processes Provide second‑line challenge on business processes, change initiatives, and risk acceptances Administer and enhance the Archer GRC system, ensuring data quality, reporting integrity, and user support Analyse incidents, trends, and operational risk metrics to generate meaningful insights Conduct control testing and deep dives, and provide input into thematic reviews Prepare clear, insightful reporting and support papers for risk committees Build strong relationships across the business and deliver practical, accessible operational risk guidance and training About you | Ō pūkenga We’re looking for someone who brings strong operational risk experience and the technical capability to elevate our data, systems, and process insight - an area our team is actively looking to strengthen. Knowledge & Skills Solid understanding of operational risk management, CPS220, CPS230, Basel standards, and RBNZ expectations Ability to analyse data, identify patterns, and turn findings into actionable insights Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide constructive challenge Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and the ability to work independently Effective stakeholder engagement and relationship‑building skills Proficiency with Microsoft applications Experience 3–5+ years in financial services, ideally in operational risk, audit, controls, or process engineering Strong capability in RCA facilitation, control testing, incident analysis, and data interpretation Experience using GRC tools (Archer ideal), with confidence navigating and improving systems Essential Bachelor’s degree or international equivalent In return we can offer you: This is a fantastic opportunity to join a values-driven organisation with an ambitious growth strategy.
