Description
Create your best future and join Westpac as a Manager, Operational Risk Measurement What’s the role? You’ll play a key role in how Westpac understands, measures and responds to operational risk across the Group. Sitting within Enterprise Operational Risk, this role focuses on turning complex loss and risk data into clear insights that inform decision‑making, capital allocation and regulatory outcomes. You’ll work closely with risk partners, finance, stress testing teams and senior stakeholders to assess existing and emerging operational risks. A big part of your day will involve analysing internal and external loss data, maintaining risk models, and helping shape the story behind the numbers - not just what’s happening, but why it matters. This is a 18-month max term role, based in Sydney, with hybrid working (3 days a week in office). You won’t have direct reports, but you’ll influence outcomes across the Group through your expertise, collaboration and data‑driven insights. What do I need? You’ll bring strong analytical capability and a practical approach to risk, with a genuine interest in using data to inform better outcomes. You’ll also be comfortable working across teams and explaining complex concepts in plain language. * Experience analysing and managing large data sets, with a strong focus on data quality. * Hands‑on capability in quantitative or statistical modelling and scenario analysis. * Strong data analytics and reporting skills, using tools like Power BI, Tableau, Alteryx or SQL. * Working knowledge of operational risk, risk measurement or capital management in a financial services environment. * The ability to communicate insights clearly, influence stakeholders and work independently with accountability.  Why join us? We’re obsessed with becoming our customers' #1 banking partner for life and we’re looking for people who are passionate about helping us achieve that goal. In return, we’re committed to making Westpac the best place to work in the country. Here are just a few of the ways we’re already doing that: * Special offers on banking products and discounts from top brands, including generous employee-only mortgage rates! * Flexible work arrangements to help you achieve a greater work/life balance, and a variety of leave options including Culture, Lifestyle and Wellbeing leave.  * Tailored learning and development opportunities to help you grow your career within the bank.  * Lots of opportunities to ‘give back’ to the Community by getting involved in our many volunteering initiatives.
