DESIRED EDUCATION AND SKILLS

  • Completion of secondary education in a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution, preferably a university degree or community college diploma.
  • Minimum seven (7) to eight (8) years of relevant experience.
  • Experience managing the planning and execution of high-profile meetings for senior leaders and executives, including the development of briefing notes, position papers, and other documents to support system-level priority setting and decision-making.
  • Experience managing the operation of multiple advisory committees, sub-committees, and working groups.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills: able to identify risks and issues, evaluate options and provide recommendations.
  • Knowledge of organ donation and transplantation considered a strong asset.
Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Temporary full-time Manager, Organ and Tissue Donation and Transplantation to join our dynamic Organ & Tissue Donation & Transplant team.
As the national coordinating agency for organ and tissue donation and transplantation health care services in Canada, Canadian Blood Services’ Organ and Tissue Donation and Transplantation (OTDT) program collaborates with partners and stakeholders (internal and external) to develop and strengthen the foundational elements that contribute to a high-performing organ and tissue donation and transplantation system and to develop, operate and evolve the registries through which Canadian Blood Services’ supports the sharing of solid organs-for-transplant within and across provincial boundaries. Canadian Blood Services’ OTDT program also acts as the Secretariat for the System Operators Advisory Committee, which is the senior advisory committee in the governance structure that oversees all pan-Canadian collaboration in ODT health care services.
The Manager, OTDT (Governance Services), reports to the Associate Director, OTDT (Governance), and supervises the Specialist, OTDT (Governance Services). The Manager, OTDT (Governance Services) is responsible for managing all processes, projects and activities related to Canadian Blood Services’ role as the secretariat for the System Operators Advisory Committee, managing the provision of the services and supports that committee members need to develop advice and recommendations on ODT system priorities and actions for the Federal-Provincial-Territorial Assistant Deputy Minister (FPT ADM) Steering Committee. This role will also manage all other processes, projects and activities related to Canadian Blood Services’ support of pan-Canadian governance, including a range of engagement activities that will ensure the activities of SOAC are well understood by all stakeholders.
