The Payments Consulting team sits within the Global Strategy, Operation & Performance organisation in Global Merchant Network Services. The team are subject matter experts on payment acceptance technologies and processes and plays a vital role in driving the success of the Global Merchant Services business. Key responsibilities of this role include: Manage payment processing relationships with managed Merchants, Third Party Processors (TPPs) and external partners & vendors. Providing market insight, consultative services and support to American Express internal Acquisition, Client Management and external partners/merchants, this includes identifying and implementing suitable products, services, and solutions to fulfill merchant or processor requirements, while keeping in line with American Express goals. Develop and manage partnership with third party payment processers, terminal owners, and solution partners. Manage the planning and delivery of payment products and solution enablement for partners/merchants that drive premium economics and a better card member POS experience. Resolve escalated technical payments issues, by leveraging your strong internal and external networks, to the expectation of customers and the business. Be the internal voice of our processing partners and large merchants, and along with your in-depth knowledge of local market payment technology trends and regulation, advocate for innovation and product improvements that add value to our customers and support business goals. Qualifications: Understanding of merchant acquiring payment processing, point of sale technology and emerging payment technologies (for example, PCI, 3D Secure, Mobile, Tokenization and QR). And the ability to translate and articulate complex issues, processes, and products in a simple, non-technical manner. Enthusiasm and passion for payment technology, including curiosity to know how things work. Internal stakeholders and external business and relationship management, including demonstratable experience in engaging, influencing, and driving multiple parties to a common goal. Experience in supporting Sales teams, particularly the ability to understand customers/partners’ business objectives and finding solutions to meet the needs. Proficiency in business analysis, delivering presentation and demonstrations. Project management and solution implementation experience with a proven record in leading complex initiatives/projects and driving results.
