Overview:
Ferrellgas is looking for a Payroll Manager to join the team! This role is responsible for overseeing and managing the organization’s payroll operations, ensuring timely & accurate processing of pay and ensures pay compliance with government regulations. This position requires in-depth knowledge of payroll accounting principles to accurately analyze monthly transactions for posting general ledger and to conduct periodic payroll tax reviews.

Responsibilities
  • Leads and develops a team of Payroll Specialist to ensure timely processing of payroll operations.
  • Implements, maintains, and reviews all payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
  • Communicates and educates departments pertaining to payroll best practices and compliance related changes.
  • Identifies potential issues recommends fixes, and collaborates on testing updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures.
  • Utilizes data analytics to recommend, lead, and execute process improvement opportunities.
  • Manages quarterly and annual payroll tax compliance, including W-2 preparation.
  • Responsible for the monthly general ledger accounting process, the reconciliation of payroll accounts, and provision of quarterly updates on account activity to accounting management.
  • Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
  • Prepares and manages department budget.
  • Responsible for facilitating audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
  • Recruits, interviews, hires, train and supervise new staff in the department.
  • Responsible for effective communication with various departments and ensure Payroll department works in conjunction with companywide policies and programs and the overall business goals and objectives are met.
  • Responds to questions from management and employees about company policy, as it relates to payroll.
  • Manages the employee relocation process.
