Job Summary The Payroll Tax Manager provide expertise on multi-state payroll regulations, including Federal, State wage/hour regulations (FLSA) and best payroll and tax practices Responsibilities Analyze multi-state payroll tax data, perform calculations to ensure that payroll information is reported to federal, state and local agencies Responsible for the weekly administration of payroll tax activities (federal, state, local withholdings) for assigned legal entities including distributions of tax remittances according to tax jurisdiction guidelines Assist in the preparation and processing of accurate and timely federal, multi-state and multi-jurisdiction withholding tax payments and handle incoming inquiries from employees Responsible for the Quality Assurance of W2 corrections and reissues Investigate and resolve payroll tax discrepancies, providing clear explanations to employees Perform and build compliance and year end reporting Design, document, and review payroll tax processing procedures Perform tax reconciliations and determine liability for accounts, divisions, or business units. Oversee the management and upkeep of the escheatment process Responsible for management of the overpayment process Oversee legal audits (wage & hour, DOL and state). Liaison with internal teams to collect and submit requested documents Garnishment Management of documents and files with vendor Minimum Requirements Bachelors’ Degree in Accounting or related degree required. Tax certifications such as Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) is desired FPC, CPP, CPA or CMA required Minimum of eight years’ experience, or combination of education and experience may be considered. Proficiency in payroll systems (e.g., ADP, SAP ). Exceptional knowledge of payroll tax regulations and deductions, knowledge of Excel In-depth knowledge of federal and state payroll and tax regulations Excellent customer service skills with an ability to effectively handle and resolve employee inquiries and issues Proficient in using MS Word, Excel, Access and Internet Explorer Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion. Demonstrated high degree of professionalism and integrity Physical Requirements/Working Conditions Remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. Occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer. Walk short distances. Reach above and/or below shoulder. Handle/grasp documents or office equipment. Sit and/or stand for short or extended periods of time. Lift/carry/move objects, files and documents up to 10 pounds. Work in an office environment using standard office equipment. Talk, listen, and speak clearly on telephone.
