This makes the role of Manager, Portfolio Management within our Corporate Real Estate Management (CREM) Division a particularly exciting and challenging career opportunity.

In a fast-paced, high-volume environment, we manage multiple, complex real estate transactions on behalf of the City and its entities, to enable them to carry out their activities and meet their business needs. Our focus is on continuous improvement, through performance improvement and the development and implementation of sound management practices.
With the goal to maximize real estate value in pursuit of social, economic and environmental benefits while achieving value for the City, you’ll oversee the management of the City’s real estate portfolio and transactional work. Utilizing your extensive real estate expertise, you’ll manage a team of real estate professionals to modernize and harmonize day-to-day real estate management, and coordinate the strategic implementation of major real estate projects and transactions in collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities
  • Post-secondary education in a relevant field such as Business, Real Estate Asset Management, Accounting / Finance, Planning, Development / Engineering, Real Estate and/or Land Economics, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Considerable experience negotiating complex real estate agreements, including multi-party, commercial, industrial, residential, development and multiple real estate interests transactions, with a strong understanding of, and demonstrated ability to apply, financial modelling, real estate value, real estate law (all relevant legislation) and planning considerations.
  • Extensive real estate transaction project management experience, including the ability to define and meet project purpose and objectives, undertake project activities, achieve milestones and deliverables, monitor and track progress, and communicate effectively in a multi-stakeholder environment. A PMP designation is considered an asset.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in planning, end-to-end deal negotiation and real estate portfolio management (all asset classes).
  • Experience in leading and achieving positive transformational change with and through people.
  • Experience in developing and implementing strong relevant policies and procedures.
  • An Accounting or Financial designation such as CFA and/or CBV, with real estate experience, or postgraduate studies in Real Estate, is preferred.
  • Extensive experience with, and knowledge of, financial and accounting concepts such as Discounted Cash Flow (DCF), Net Present Value (NPV) and Internal Rate of Return (IRR), to understand real estate analysis and be able to build or review financial models, is an asset
