CEYLON COLD STORES PLC   Manager - procurement   Ceylon Cold Stores PLC (CCS), manufacturer of Elephant House Beverages and Ice Creams is a leading consumer food company in Sri Lanka. CCS is a subsidiary of John Keells Holdings PLC.   The company is seeking a suitable candidate to fill the position of Manager - Procurement. The position is responsible for executing strategic sourcing and procurement operations for raw materials across the Ice Cream and Beverage categories. The role involves continuous monitoring of commodity markets, cost drivers, and supply dynamics to develop data-driven sourcing strategies and cost optimization proposals. Key responsibilities include conducting procurement risk assessments, developing mitigation plans to address supply continuity and single-source exposure, and driving alternative material and supplier qualification. The role prepares detailed price estimations, cost models, and annual budget projections to support financial planning and forecasting accuracy. The position manages stock positioning analysis and procurement planning, executes supplier negotiations in collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders, and ensures compliance with procurement policies, quality standards, and documentation requirements. These activities ensure timely material availability aligned with production schedules and sales targets. The Procurement Manager supports the New Product Development (NPD) process by coordinating material readiness, supplier approvals, and launch timelines. Additionally, the role implements sustainability initiatives by integrating responsible sourcing, compliance, and environmental performance requirements across the supplier base.Job Responsibilities Lead analysis of the procurement portfolio to identify cost, supply, and continuity risks and develop robust mitigation strategies. Drive supplier diversification and alternative material development to minimize business continuity risks. Monitor commodity market trends and price movements, translating insights into timely and value-focused procurement actions for management decision-making.’ Consolidate demand forecasts and align procurement plans with production requirements. Lead budget preparation, cost estimations, and price projections in collaboration with cross-functional teams. Review and track stock positioning, develop procurement plans, seek required approvals, and actively manage variances to ensure operational efficiency and alignment with business objectives. Provide strategic oversight of inventory levels by reviewing stock positioning and ensure supply continuity. Source, specify, monitor, develop & evaluate vendors; call for vendor quotations; negotiate deals with vendors; seek approvals for product specifications/quality from units & QA; place orders; ensure dispatch on time in order to ensure beneficial vendor relationships. Identify Strategic vendors and prepare plans for minimizing risk and build long term relationships. Annual Vendor Performance to carried on. Jointly inspect supplies & seek explanations on rejections; analyze quality reports; provide feedback; address queries proactively to comply with all the standards and maintain quality parameters. Manage supplier audits and ensure compliance with company ethical sourcing and sustainability guidelines. Approved requisition/purchase order raised & inform A/C dept about pending issues; track payments; monitor variances & provide feedback; address internal & external queries in order to ensure healthy accounting practice. Person Specifications Degree in Procurement Management/ Supply Chain / Contract Management with minimum 5-6 years’ experience in a large-scale manufacturing environment with sound knowledge of Direct Material Handling with the exposure to Commodity market. Broad understanding of purchasing related functional planning, Strategic Procurement /compliance & quality of large scale FMCG industry. Broad knowledge of Finance & Logistics, Compliance & quality management, Knowledge of Legal Procedures & Global Commodity Trading Practices. Decision making & problem-solving skills, communication skills, negotiating skills, interpersonal skills, Planning and control skills, organizing skills.
