THIS IS A 100% ON-SITE POSITION in Los Angeles, California (Monday through Friday) Role Overview As a Manager, Product Design, you lead multiple Product Designers and initiatives across complex product areas, operating at a platform and organizational scale. This is a senior people-leadership role responsible for elevating design quality, scaling design impact, and developing high-performing design teams that deliver measurable business and user outcomes. You balance strategic vision with operational excellence — shaping design strategy, influencing cross-functional priorities, and ensuring cohesive, high-quality experiences across Carvana’s ecosystem. You are deeply embedded with product, engineering, and business leadership, and you advocate relentlessly for user-centered, system-level thinking. You are comfortable operating with urgency, navigating ambiguity, and making high-stakes decisions. You set a high bar for yourself and others, and you lead with clarity, empathy, and accountability. What you’ll be doing Lead multiple Product Designers and design initiatives, ensuring alignment between user needs, business objectives, and technical constraints Operate at a platform and organizational level, influencing roadmaps, priorities, and strategic decisions across product clusters Define team goals, success metrics, and outcomes in partnership with product, engineering, and senior leadership Advocate for design as a driver of measurable impact across customer experience, efficiency, and innovation Own and drive design efforts on the most complex, high-visibility initiatives with broad organizational impact Anticipate future product and organizational needs, positioning the design team through scalable frameworks, systems, and processes What you should have 10+ years of experience in Product Design or UX 3+ years in a formal people management role Proven success leading multiple teams and complex, cross-platform initiatives Deep expertise in design systems, UX strategy, and the product development lifecycle Demonstrated ability to influence strategy and outcomes at an organizational level Strong communication, storytelling, and stakeholder management skills Ways of Working Operate with a product-wide and platform-level mindset Balance strategic thinking with operational rigor and detail Be proactive, adaptable, and empathetic in leadership approach Stay current with trends in product design, UX leadership, and organizational design Embrace AI tools, emerging technologies, and new ways of working to accelerate and amplify design impact Lead with curiosity, creativity, and a strong sense of ownership What we’ll offer in return Full-Time Salary Position with a competitive salary.
