Responsibilities

As a product leader (f/m/d) for our industry group, you will be a key enabler of our ERP solution across customer segments, being accountable for our vertical industry scope in Public Sector, Education, Banking and Insurance. In order for customers to be able to consume SAP’s innovations, it is critical for us to invest into enablement of our horizontal capabilities and make these usable to our customers with industry-specific processes. You will lead a global team of talented individuals, that are at the forefront of identifying key segments that require specific investments to increase our addressable market. Furthermore, you will be accountable for successful product delivery of these industry-specific capabilities within SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition, together with your team. You will contribute significantly to our goal of making our SaaS ERP available to all 25 industries.

The Manager Product Management (m/f/d) Head of Product – Public Services and Financial Services will be part of the industry product leadership team within the Cloud ERP organization, focusing on industry success for SAP’s SaaS ERP solution, S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead a team of product managers to product excellence
  • Make decisions based on market analyses to assess attractiveness of investment areas
  • Develop, set goals and manage performance, to build a high-performing team of product managers across the globe
  • Guide teams in designing, prioritizing and describing an industry product backlog
  • Proactively engage early in the product discovery process
  • Engage with strategic ecosystem partners to build a partner-driven product portfolio
  • Engage with customers to gather product sentiment and feedback to inform future investments
  • Be a thought leader for your product area and provide industry expertise in external engagements and events
  • Develop and drive the product vision, the roadmap, and the corresponding usage plan
  • Make decisions about in-house developments, purchases, or partnerships on product level
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality specifications according to customer and user requirements, with the goal of creating a competitive advantage for SAP
  • Work in close collaboration with other teams, such as product marketing or product engineering.
  • Make a contribution towards efficiency, effectively, and process improvement

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • 7+ years of work experience in the software industry, thereof the majority in product management roles
  • Direct and indirect leadership experience with a proven track-record of leading global teams and organizations
  • Experience in verticalization of software products and expansion into new industries, ideally with deep knowledge in an industry in previous roles
  • Experience in the public sector industry is a plus
  • Knowledge about SAP’s business application portfolio, in particular enterprise resource planning (ERP)
  • Familiarity with large enterprise software requirements processes and tooling (in particular roadmap and software requirement management)
  • Deep understanding of the product management role and product development processes, being an advocate for product-led growth
  • Ability to work independently on projects with functional ownership and budget responsibility
  • Excellent knowledge of tools like Jira, Microsoft Projects, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Excellent team player and collaborator across matrix organizations
  • Flexibility to work in an international team with multiple time zones, including flexibility to work with colleagues based in the United States
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with customers, partners and internal teams
  • Self-motivated and results-driven, with demonstrable success in previous roles or projects
  • Fluent or near-native English language skills
