Overview of the Role
Reporting to the Plant Manager, this position directs and coordinates production in cheese production and processing activities of the facility. Reviews processing schedules and production orders to make decisions concerning inventory requirements, staffing requirements, work procedures, and duty assignments, considering budgetary limitations and time constraints.
Salary:
$101,720 - $127,150

How you will make contributions that matter:

  • Review operations and confer with technical/ quality/ maintenance or administrative staff to resolve production or processing problems.
  • Ensure safety, sanitation, HACCP, BRC, GMP and company food safety policies are practiced.
  • Develop and implement production tracking systems, analyzing production, quality control, maintenance, and other operational reports, to detect production problems.
  • Train, evaluate, coach and terminate staff, and resolve personnel grievances.
  • Prepare and maintain production reports.
  • Coordinate and recommend procedures for facility and equipment maintenance or modification, including the replacement of machines.
  • Initiate and coordinate inventory and cost control programs;
  • Institute employee suggestion or involvement programs.
  • Ensure that the Supervisor maintains contact with all employees away from work with job-related conditions;
  • Hold Supervisors accountable towards Health & Safety by verifying that each Supervisor completes the following: Complete 1 Safety Talk per month and complete 1 safety investigation or safety evaluation each month;
  • Ensure that individuals at the facility understand their roles and responsibilities and adhere to company safety policies and procedures and provincial legislation.
  • Carry out a weekly walk through inspection with the Health & Safety Coordinator for Production;
  • Provide appropriate corrective measures for unsafe conditions and unsafe acts;
  • Ensure that all protective device(s) on the equipment or materials are intact and un tampered with;
  • Ensure that all Health & Safety issues/concerns are investigated and reported to respective personnel; This will be achieved through the bi-weekly Accident/Incident review meetings with the Department Managers;
  • Ensure the Supervisors are assessing the tasks assigned for risks, corrective measures identified and implemented and information communicated to all affected employees;
  • Ensure that appropriate protective devices are provided and also maintained in safe condition;
  • Attend 1 OH&S committee meeting per quarter.

Health & Safety

  • Provide leadership, direction, guidance, supervision, evaluation, motivation and training of Lab personnel to ensure work is completed efficiently, effectively and safely;
  • Ensure that safe conditions exist at all times within in the work environment; take appropriate and effective measures to provide for the health and safety of employees;

Plant Human Resources Management and Labour Relations:

  • Develops and fosters strong and effective functional and cross-functional teams;
  • Administer the collective agreement, Company policies and standards;
  • Undertake other functions as required;
