KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Implements and executes delivery of psychologically healthy and safe workplace initiatives and programs at CMBC and advises and supports leaders on all related matters. Implements plans through effective strategizing, facilitation and communication, to establish a shared understanding of PHSM across CMBC and ensure alignment with the enterprise’s overarching business objectives
Effectively represents the interests of CMBC by participating in discussions for developing the Psychological Health framework in consultation with TransLink Lead and other stakeholders. Provides support and guidance on the existing physiological health and wellness programs and initiatives in alignment with the existing framework.
Provides senior-level expertise and support on psychological health and wellness practices, aligned with the Psychological Health & Wellness in the Workplace National Standard and other industry standards. Leads the development of internal reports, assesses the impact of existing trends, practices, programs, and policies at CMBC that may affect psychological health and wellness, and recommends improvements.
Manages and implements approved programs in compliance with policies, regulations, and accepted standards, principles, and practices at CMBC ensuring the design and delivery, assesses the impact of current trends and practices on business, addresses gaps based on emerging business needs, and present recommendations to CMBC stakeholders Advises management on changes and improvements to policies and procedures.
Delivers training to management on legal and regulatory requirements. Oversees the promotion of mental and psychological health programs at CMBC including crisis response processes, to ensure ongoing employee awareness. Responsible for the management of risk and ensuring risk mitigation plans and strategies are in place and reported.
Participates as a CMBC representative in various joint steering committees and working groups, providing expertise and guidance from a PHSM perspective to ensure compliance with statutory requirements and other industry standards.
Liaises with the Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP) provider to promote program awareness and utilization, resolve issues, and review reporting. Liaises with Occupational Health and other departments to determine the need for additional fee-for-service programs offered by the EFAP provider. Liaises with Unifor Mental Health Advocates promote their program and ensure compliance with the collective agreement provisions. Manages the promotion of mental and psychological health and wellness programs at CMBC (e.g., Critical Incident Peer Defusing and Peer to Peer Support programs) to ensure ongoing employee awareness.
Liaises and coordinates with Corporate Wellness at TransLink to promote wellness programs and ensure appropriate communications for the CMBC audience.
Manages reporting staff, including selection, development, coaching, performance management, assigning/reviewing work, and all other people management practices. Develops department goals and work plans, implementing processes and procedures, and leads optimized service delivery, while overseeing the department budget.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
The requirements for this job are acquired through completion of an undergraduate degree in organizational psychology, organizational behavior, or a health science-related discipline, plus achievement of the Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation or equivalent, and six (6) years of related experience at progressive levels of responsibility in a unionized environment and demonstrated ability to provide effective program management.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Advanced knowledge of the theories, principles, practices, and techniques about psychological health and wellness management.
Advanced knowledge of the collective agreements, relevant employment standards, and other regulatory requirements.
Advanced relationship-building and maintaining skills with the ability to develop critical partnerships with business leaders and employees and foster inter-functional relationships and collaborate effectively with colleagues in a multi-disciplinary context.
Solid planning skills to develop work plans for areas of accountability, in alignment with business objectives.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to provide specialized guidance and expertise to managers and staff; to develop and manage critical relationships with union leaders and representatives.
Solid analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and mitigate emerging psychological health and workplace wellness issues.
Solid organizational and time management skills.
Advanced program and change management skills to manage deployment and roll-out of initiatives and facilitate related changes.
Solid leadership skills with the ability to manage directly reporting staff, and also to provide specialized guidance and expertise to all levels of the organization.
Advanced knowledge of Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
