VACANCY: MANAGER – QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEMSPATERSON C1

The Quality Management Systems (QMS) Department at Western Cape Blood Service (WCBS) is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to drive the implementation, maintenance, and optimization of the WCBS Quality Management System. WCBS is a non-profit organisation whose mission is to collect, process, and distribute blood and blood products of the highest standards throughout the Western Cape.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • National Diploma or B-Tech in Biomedical Technology or Bachelor of Health Science (BHSc)
  • Current registration with the HPCSA
  • 5 years of experience in blood transfusion
  • 3 years of experience in the quality field
  • Quality Assessor certificate/ experience will be an added advantage
  • Driver’s licence without endorsements

Responsibilities

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

  • Implements and monitors WCBS’s quality systems
  • Ensures compliance with internal policies and regulatory standards
  • Provides advice, assistance, and guidance on the implementation of the parameters of the QMS at WCBS
  • Manages the internal audit programme and performs audits
  • Assist in preparing the organisation for external audits and regulatory assessments
  • Conduct a thorough review of quality documentation and implement necessary amendments to ensure alignment with applicable standards

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Implement and manage WCBS’s Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring sustained compliance with internal procedures, industry-related regulations, and relevant international standards
  • Plan and conduct internal audits to evaluate the effectiveness and compliance of quality processes
  • Identify areas of non-conformance and oversee prompt execution and follow-up of corrective and preventive measures
  • Advise teams across WCBS on QMS policies, procedures, and quality improvement initiatives
  • Review, update, and maintain quality documentation to ensure compliance with current regulatory and organisational requirements
  • Coordinate quality training programs to enhance staff awareness and competence in QMS principles
  • Collaborate with teams during external inspections, audits, and assessments.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and quality excellence across the organisation
