- Previous compliance experience, with a preference for Commercial/Business Banking product expertise
- Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations underpinning the financial services industry
- Sound reasoning and decision-making skills with an ability to support decisions and clearly articulate commercial, regulatory and customer implications of analysis and findings.
- Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively and interact/advise in verbal/written communications at all stakeholder levels.
- Strategic and analytical thinking and solid business acumen.
- Ability to prioritise, schedule and meet challenging deadlines with autonomy and self-sufficiency.
- A willingness to learn, an inquisitive and open mind and a collaborative working style.
Responsibilities:
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support regulatory engagement across BB. This will involve working with key stakeholders including BB Line 1 colleagues, Compliance teams in other Business Units and other teams throughout the Group to support engagements with a range of regulators.
- Assess and notify regulators of reportable situations in line with regulatory obligations.
- Work collaboratively with a broad range of stakeholders, seek validation and approvals from senior management, and deliver to the regulator within the required timeline.
- Review documents, data and responses to be provided by the business to a regulator to provide quality control and to ensure the information provided is accurate and suitably meets the regulator’s request. Offer constructive challenge to ensure that BB continues to meet both regulatory expectations and the requirements of the Group Regulatory Engagement Standard (GRES).
- Provide regulatory compliance advice based on a deep understanding of BB strategy, products and processes.
- Support the management of cross team regulatory forums to facilitate a coordinated and consistent approach to regulatory engagement across the Group.
- Draft compliance input for Risk and Compliance Committees.
- Advocate for business solutions in the interests of customers.
- Advise and assist business stakeholders with remediation activities.
- Provide support to stakeholders within BB, other Business Units and Group functions.
- Ensure efficient and effective Compliance operations and procedures.
Key responsibilities of this role include:
- Assessing, monitoring and leading investigations of Compliance incidents and issues, including supporting the effective management and prevention of Compliance breaches and reporting of significant breaches to regulators.
- Managing and improving stakeholder relationships and providing strategic regulatory advice.
- Managing correspondence with relevant regulators and partnering with teams within BB and throughout the Group to obtain required information
