ABOUT US:

Gaming and Liquor (G&L) advises the Minister for Casino, Gaming & Liquor Regulation on the development and implementation of liquor and gambling legislation and regulation, and on current and emerging gambling and liquor-related issues.
The business unit is responsible for delivering and further developing the Victorian Government’s strategic response to liquor and gambling issues and for developing and implementing the government’s policy on the various gambling licensing processes. It is the primary government point of reference for industry, community and government on liquor and gaming issues.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Manager, Research and Evaluation leads the Research and Evaluation team within the Knowledge, Research and Evaluation branch of G&L. Reporting to the Director and working collaboratively with the Manager, Knowledge, this leadership position plays a key role in building the research and evaluation evidence base to inform responses to gambling harm.
Applying a public health framework to the issue of gambling harm, the role supports the Director, Knowledge, Research and Evaluation and Executive Director to develop, apply and distil the evidence base to contribute to a range of strategic matters and projects across the business unit and portfolio.

Some of your duties will include:

  • Lead the development of annual and multi-year plans for the team, aligning activities with the business unit’s strategy and objectives.
  • Oversee the delivery of an evaluation program that supports assessment of the effectiveness of gambling harm prevention and reduction objectives across the portfolio.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders, including academics and researchers, community groups, government departments and regulatory bodies.

To be successful in this role you will be able to demonstrate:

  • The ability to manage multiple complex tasks simultaneously.
  • A record of achievement in strategic development and management of a research, evaluation and/or outcomes measurement function in an academic or government context.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with experience engaging with academics, evaluators and other relevant professionals
